I think Anschutz and Izhmash are the only companies that make biathalon rifles.

Yeah your right, looks like suhl biathlon rifles haven't been used in the Olympics for a while. Izhmash rifles uses Anschutz barrels.

I want to know what kind of 22lr ammo they are shooting. Hitting a golf ball sized target at 50m would require a more consistent 22lr ammo than I've ever come across.

I think one of the brands used is Eley. Not sure of any other brands used. I have some ELey I shoot in my 10/22's and it is accurate stuff.

Federal used to make a target/competition round as well. Believe it used to come in a white box and was called “gold” or such. Those were accurate for me back in the cut too.

I think my brother shot Eley back when he did competition stuff.

Lapua Midas+, Lapua Biathalon, and Eley Tenex are 3 of the good ones.

Eley didn't work real well in my CZ, but apparently is the bees knees for other 22's.

what kind of Eley ammo did you use? I have found that different kinds of Eley ammo don't shoot as well. The Eley Club ammo shoots ok, but Eley Match and Practice 100 shoot awesome out of my 10/22's. At 50 yards my 10/22's shoot better than a 1/2" group.

That is the Eley Club.

Eley Club

Eley Match

I think this is the ammo they use in the biathlon

I shoot a 77/22 that's had a little work done to it. It shoots Eley club ok, but shoots CCI Standard Velocity, just as well and for 1/2 the price. Best group is 1.37" at 150 yds with Midas+.

I've tried a few kinds. Eley Target shoots pretty well in my CZ. I was still breaking it in when I settled on that. I might try a few more "nicer" ammos this summer. Some of the Wolf and SK ammos are supposed to be pretty good too.
