We know what is going on. We have a breakdown in the family, higher incidence of divorce, the removal of social stigma to anti-social parental behavior, and a crazy amount of single parents. We also have a higher labor participation rate for mothers (which makes SJWs have a sad, but data don't lie). We don't want to acknowledge that this breakdown fed a social crisis. Look at any cause that is dear to your heart and control for single parent families, it is scary what it has done to children.
This is the answer, it is mostly cultural marxism brought to us from the top-down.

Nothing worse than parents that say “Johnny is 12 you have to start taking responsibility”. What have you doing the last 12 years? Little Johnny has 12 years experience doing it wrong, and now you demand a complete turn around?
My children received light rebukes for "wrong" behavior when they were fricking 3 months old.
It's a damned practical joke to say, "hey, let em do it for a while........THEN, we'll bitch at them about it later".
I realize we are in modern times now and I'm not looking to go back but people need to get a grip. 100 years ago, a 12 year old was probably working on the farm with heavy equipment unsupervised.
Their brains didn't REGRESS in the last 100 years.
It's like people think to themselves, "I'll wait till they are X age because that's the age kids can handle that type thing"...............totally forgetting that the reason they USED TO be able to handle that thing is that parent's didn't USED TO wait!!!
You're basically asking your kids to do heavy lifting without having started with some light lifting.

Back to evil. You don't want to even consider that at this point in our history, evil has infiltrated our society more than ever. Evil has free reign to grow because we have allowed basic morality and decency to decline through legislation and through entertainment culture. It is the goal of evil to separate humanity from good....from God. Everyone likes to talk in secular terms with catchphrases like "mental health." Well, more people are freaking mentally disturbed now because evil has been given an open invitation to take residence within our society. We celebrate evil everyday in our pop culture. We are addicted to the vices where moral decay is promoted with the most vigor. What did you think would happen? This is nothing but evil manifesting itself more and more in our society.

quote:“there were 55 percent more casualties per capita from mass public shootings in [the European Union] than U.S. from 2009-15.” either you didn't read it or you don't understand
they're going to be higher if you use that dishonest metric, we have a ton more people than any european country.
quote:IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED HERE NERD
it doesn't happen everywhere else, that's pure and simple fact.
quote:so you're admitting you don't what that means. you're saying that because of the absence in europe, therefore, the absence in america. if you can't see that's a stupid position, then i can't help you
i'm not sure you know what this means if you think that somehow negates my argument

quote:the first problem that people on the left have is that
I think it's silly to think there would be an equal number of vehicle mass slaughters in schools or anywhere if there were magically no guns
they cannot guarantee that banning gun X is going to make things better
also
we already know that people have already turned to these alternate methods. take away a currently easy avenue and it's hard to imagine people WOULDN'T turn to those alternate methods.
quote:those two things have NOTHING to do with each other. there could be countless guns in the country but that doesn't mean people are necessarily going to use them
The prevalence of so many guns is at least PART of the equation
quote:totally, completely absolutely irrelevant
It's the NRA's complete unwillingness to acknowledge that that makes them unreasonable

Why is America so different than the rest of Western Civilization in this regard then? There are plenty of countries with very similar media to America, internet is global, social media is worldwide. Why is this an America only problem?
We aren't the only country this happens in. What we are is the only country our media covers events like this when they happen in them. Also we have a butt load more schools and even more of a butt load more students than other countries.

quote:I would like to see the specific data, but it at least appears that there is little correlation between traditional crime of the communities that these mass shootings occur with the shootings themselves.
Not only are the school shootings absurdly spiked with no discernable logistical reason........they are spiked in CONFLICT with general data on violence.
In other words, these appear to often occur in affluent, lower crime areas so my hypothesis is that the underlying causes of the shootings is unrelated to the underlying causes of crime in general. It's already difficult to determine what those causes are given the low frequency of mass shootings in general, but the this only makes it that much more difficult when it doesn't relate to other, more frequent crimes in general.
