They cost about $100 per person for 40 minutes. So is it worth to pay $200 for a glorified kakak ride?

I would do it just for the experience.

Not really but if you go in the offseason and get one off the beaten path they can be enjoyable.

It's likely not gonna be 40 minutes either, it's been awhile but ours was more like 15.

Your money is better spent elsewhere but it really depends on how much you and your wife would regret not doing it. I would not do it on a busy summer day down the middle of the city.

We ended up not doing it for some reason. Just seemed like a tourist trap thing.

Did it just a couple months ago. Worth it to say you did it. Would be like going to Paris and not seeing the Eifel Tower if you didn't. I liked the one off the beaten path much better than the one that went down the Grand Canal. Grab yourself a Bellini and do it. I enjoyed it.

I went. I did it. I would never do it again and regret ever doing it.

Venetians in general, but particularly the gondolears are jerks. They are essentially the Venice Mafia. They ripped us off and tried to tell us we couldn't take pictures.

I would highly recommend not supporting these people.

I have done it once. It is worth it to check it off of your bucket list. I am going to Venice in April and probably won't take another gondola ride, but I am glad I have been on one.

Only if the man is singing Italian music while paddling. If not, heck no.

How often are you going to be in Venice? Some things you just do to do

I would do a night time one if I could redo it, my guy answered a call in the middle of ours.

We did not do it because we were not in the mood to deal with the crowd or haggling/price. Part of me regrets not doing it just so I could say I did it but I dont think we missed out on much.

Yes just don’t do it on the grand canal, that’s what the water taxi is for...do it in the small canals and you will get some great pictures.

It was $100 for 3 of us. Our gondolier was a douche and didn’t sing. It was still a nice experience.

Do not fall into that water. It smells pretty bad.
We were there in April and it was off season so it wasn’t crowded at all. We went close to dark so it was super nice. Don’t go to the restaurant they suggest. It was the worst meal we had in Venice haha

Do it. Don't be a cheapskate.

We spent 40 euro and it lasted 30 minutes. The photos and memories you get are worth it.

Plus, wait until late in the day when the cruise tourists are gone.
