We just need to sling it next year...

It's do or die for O, so he may as well let E and Jerry just let it fly. When the rush gets heavy anticipating pass all the time, hit 'em with screens. Let the pass set up the run for the first time in a while.

I agree with your premise and believe we will. O will go down swinging.

Slinging it doesn't necessarily mean throwing it deep. That's what the passing offense basically was under Cam.
Like the OP said, more screen passes. Or perhaps develop an intermediate passing game where the TEs are actually utilized again. There are other ways to set up the run with the pass.

Man screw the deep passes all the time. That's the safe bs that Miles did. Throw the slants , go over the middle with the TE, use the RB to catch some passes etc. Heaving sideline bombs isn't a solid passing attack.

Correct. Didn't mean "bombs" at all. Where did that get us against Bama? Focus on 15-20 yard patterns, utilize the middle of the field, screens. Think Mettenberger to OBJ and Juice once they started clicking. They were catching the ball 15-25 yards down the field. These receivers are supposed to be great athletes. Hit them out in space.

Haha, I just posted a similar thread, sorry

Do we have a line that can give brennan time?

Put on your big boy pants, Damm! We threw long passes because coaching staff knew that was best and safest pas to throw last year. Danny threw a better deep ball then touch pass.

May be best OLine we have had a years . Anything else to bitch but not bitch about.

Danny couldn't throw a touch pass to save his life. I loved his toughness but you have to realize he was nothing but a backup QB at Purdue. He was forced into action because Miles got us Harris, whom didn't work out.

Guess you didn't watch a lot of games. Our short passing game was horrible. Best pass play we had was throw it deep and watch Recievers run it down. Be realistic . It was what it was.

If you notice there was no etling pass video after the bama game.
Chark should have caught 3/4 of the deep balls thrown to him.
Etling wasn't the best, but he got 0 help from chark in the bama game.
And I do find it funny we saw all the etling passes from every game except bama.

They were a horrible pass blocking OL when Grimes was here.
Here's hoping the new OL Coach can fix some of it, despite the talent deficit. Will he?

I think O has voiced this desire since the start. this is why he had issues with Canada, imo. Not enough of it and not enough quality of it. Enslinger gonna do what we saw him do in relief of Cameron 2 years ago.

quote:Ugggh what's that smell? Reminds me of 2008 diarrhea fest of INTs.
How about some mid-range routes across the middle that actually pick up first downs and move the ball.
You can't throw numerous intermediate MOF just because you want to and will be a disaster unless execution from green QB and WRs is really good.

Well first we need to see if our QB is actually good

quote:I know I'm not the first to say this, but calling deep passes is not "slinging it". He means passing it a lot more, and all over the yard. We have a bazillion WRs, yet are one of the only SEC teams that doesn't run a 3 WR base set.

Be realistic. We were rated as the best OL by PFF in 2016. The interior of our OL was ridiculous.
OL may be solid this year, but I can guarantee we'll have problems the first couple of games.
