There were no looters to speak off in Jefferson after Katrina.

Hard to believe he flew Sabre jets during the Korean War.
Not hard to believe, just not known by many.
Also not known by many, he received a B.S. in Geology from LSU, and worked his way through Loyola Law school and had a small law practice before becoming chief attorney for Jefferson Parish.

I was told this story about Harry Lee:
One of the secretaries in his office lost her husband to an illness. Harry Lee overheard her phone conversation with her daughter's Catholic High School telling them since her husband died she would not be able to afford tuition there any longer and her daughter would not be able to return for the upcoming school year. When she got off the phone Harry Lee told her to call the school back and tell them to mail him the tuition statements and he would pay them. And he paid the girl's tuition for the couple of years until she graduated. This was told to me by a woman I know who worked in the office.

I remember when the Causeway was trying to make JPs crossing the bridge pay the toll when they never had to before. Lee told them that was not going to happen. The Causeway said that any JP not paying the toll will be arrested. Lee shot back that any Causeway cop who attempts to arrest one of his deputies will be arrested for impersonating a police officer.

Who doesn't remember Harry Lee would be a better question.
One of the many times he was being accused of being racist and not respecting and understanding minorities, Harry said something like, "I'm a 6'-4" Chinaman. That's got to be the smallest minority ever." He was a funny guy.
He was going through chemotherapy at Ochsner at the same time my dad was. There was a "chemo parking lot" right outside the treatment area so patients wouldn't have far to walk. No matter how fast he walked, it always took Harry Lee about 5 minutes to make it down about a 100' hallway because somebody always stopped him to wish him well or whatever. He always stopped and smiled, even if he was probably feeling shitty. Harry Lee was alright.

They were too busy blocking people from crossing the CCC to stop looters at Oakwood.
