Bachelor weekend on the bourbon trail booked!

Already posted this in Travel board, but figured this pace would have just as much, if not more insight
Would love recommendations for food, bars, and how to execute what I have planned.
Flying into Louisville on a Thursday late.
Day 1: (Friday) All in Louisville
want to just explore the city and distilleries they have there. Would love if old forester was ready by then (April 13), but if not looking for the best tours in the city. Also food and bar recs would be great
Day 2 (Saturday) Drive out to Frankfort area.
I really want to catch buffalo trace, woodford and four roses. Any other recommendations while I'm out there as far as lunch? Best way to go about getting from Louisvile to all of these? Will be heading back to Louisville for the night.
Day 3 (Sunday) Fly out at 5:00 PM... looking for random chill things guys with most likely a hell of a whiskey hangover to do before we roll out.
Have become a huge bourbon/distillation nerd and doing this with my brothers is bucket list level stuff for me.
TIA for the recs!

I will let others give you recommendations for food in Louisville. I work in Frankfort and live near Woodford. Not really going to find comparable food options to Louisville. In Frankfort there's a decent Thai place called Thai smile, a newer Honduran place called mami monchitas that has garnered some attention and a slew of standard Mexican places. I think your best option in Frankfort is a place downtown called bourbon on main. Chef inspired food, a good bourbon list and decent tap selection, and a pretty casual atmosphere with a nice view of the river.
If you want to eat closer to Woodford, you could eat it Versailles but there's even fewer options than Frankfort. The Woodford inn, Versailles brewing company. If you were willing to drive another 15 minutes further Wallace station or heirloom in Midway are more your speed.
Your best option is to drive, although there are some bourbon tour buses that run out there. I've never done any of those tours.
Good luck and enjoy your trip
ETA Louisville has a pretty solid Ethiopian place called queen of Shiba if you like Ethiopian. Old town liquor has the best craft beer selection to me. Against the grain brewery is pretty cool at night.

Awesome... as far as tour closing times and where each puts me... is there any order you would recommend hitting when doing buffalo trace, woodford, and 4 roses?

You can easily hit all 3 in one day if you manage your time right. We hit 3 in that area just missing the last tour at Woodford, and we took longer at lunch than we planned. I think we ate at that Bourbon On Main mentioned above. It was definitely a place in downtown Frankfort. Food was pretty good and they had a huge bourbon list. We just drank beer though. Go figure. If you're really pressed for time, there's a BBQ stand at Buffalo Trace that looked decent.
But they're all so close together, I'd order them in the preference you want to see them. Our day in that area we did..
1. Wild Turkey
2. Buffalo Trace
3. Lunch
4. Four Roses
5. Woodford
But we got to Woodford just as the last tour was pulling out so we missed it, so we only missed it by 5-10 minutes. If I remember right, Wild Turkey opened at 9, while all the other opened at 10, so we did it first that day. And Woodford's last tour was at 4 and 4 Roses was at 3, so we did Woodford last.

You’re doing it wrong if you don’t do the Buffalo Trace hard hat tour. Also, head over to Willett and Four Roses and buy some of their gift chop bottles.

I was dying to do the hard hat tour, but it's already booked up for the day we are going

To me the best thing at wild turkey was the view. I would not miss the Woodford tour. It's in a beautiful area and their tour facilities and tasting room are very nice. Makers has a nice tour and tasting as well, but it's further away and literally in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed, though I also fell in love with the Russel's Reserve Rye there. The tour is largely forgettable.
The Old Crow distillery isn't far from there as well. We joked about going there to see how they made their rotgut. Not even sure if they offer tours.

I don't particularly care for any of wild turkeys offerings. Their tasting was universally panned by our group.
Also OP don't get drawn off the interstate by jeptha Creed near Shelbyville. They're just getting up and running so it's just a glorified giftshop.

Have fun Scott and send me some pics

Yea I don't care for Turkey either... was probably gonna leave them off just to make rest of day less rushed
I am, however, big Woodford and four roses fan. And buffalo trace is my everyday on the rocks after work stuff so been dying to go there.

I don't even remember what I tasted there except for the Russel's Reserve Rye. I think I also had one of the Russel's Reserve bourbons, but not sure. I do remember they had 6 or 7 offerings and you got to pick 4 to taste. I never cared much for WT to begin with.

I wouldn't necessarily leave it off. I just wouldn't bother with the tour or tasting. You can walk through their new tour building and check out some of the memorabilia and then check out the overlook. Thirty minute stop Max that's not far out of your way. If you have a few minutes to kill check it out.
Someone earlier mentioned willett. It's in bardstown which is probably too far out of the way for you to make everything. I missed their tour, but bardstown is a really charming town.

I agree that the Hard Hat Tour at Buffalo Trace is a must. Rick's is a little cajun inspired hellhole that is perfect for lunch in between tours and Rick is always entertaining!

Have two recommendations for Louisville:
1. Holy Grale: It's an old Church that has been converted to a beer bar with seriously good food. You guys will enjoy this place.
2. Hammerheads: It's a basement gastropub serving maybe the best food in the city. I recommend the ribs.
That's about all I got

Highly recommend this stuff if you are into Rye whiskeys. It's the best I've had to date.
