I think he was just talking down the comparison of the 10/22 vs the .223 is all.
I have a 15-22 and a 10/22 with tactical solutions barrel and hogue overmold stock. I would be hard pressed to say which is my favorite.

I compared this one and the Ruger 556 and they are very close. I went with the Ruger because I got I’m kind of a Ruger fan and Grabagun had it for $499. But the S&W is a great rifle. Both of these would still be great rifles at almost twice the price. You’ll hear the tactical snobs on the internet down the trigger which could use improvement but either you can shoot or you can’t. As a marksman, your granddaddy probably taught you how to adapt to small things like this on a gun or change them. Plus, for that price, those guys can get off the computer in their mom’s basement and go buy a new trigger group. Just my opinion.

i already have a Advanced Combat Trigger made by ALG Defense. Could throw it on if its really an issue. i mean for the average shooter, i think triggers can be made too big of a thing. you squeeze them, they go bang.

I bought one before the election when they were around $650, and I love it. At the new price, its hard to beat. I have heard that if you're going to make changes, like gas block, free float forend, etc., the stock parts are a bitch to remove, but not impossible obviously. I took mine to a gunsmith when i changed to free float forend. Its more accurate than i'll ever need, and generally well regarded.

A 10/22 dressed up with a bunch of plastic junk chassis is just that. Junk that some kid does while he pretends to have a real rifle.
While the M&P is not the top end of AR's it is a passable little Carbine.
I'm no hardass, you go dress up your 22 rifles all you want.
It is pretty funny you couldn't figure out he wasn't talking about a ar 22 gun tho.:)

Read down the 1st page. He mistook the 5.56 for the 15-22

That's pretty obvious now.
The op was pretty clear.

I agree with everyone else that the Ruger AR556 and the M&P15 Sport 2 are excellent entry-level ARs. The M&P will probably give you a slightly better factory trigger but both come with iron sights and a Pmag. I've seen accuracy tests on these rifles and both will easily shoot sub-MOA so that's also a draw.
A good trigger can turn a nice rifle into a great rifle. It just makes everything easier. Plus with how affordable good AR triggers are now it's dumb to still have a 9 pound mil spec trigger in one.
I also find it funny that there are still companies like Noveske charging a premium for a nice rifle and leaving a shitty mil spec trigger in there. It's such a simple upgrade and is so great to have.
Easily the best bang for the buck would be the Rock River 2 stage match trigger for right around $100. Will give you a nice 4-5 pound second stage and a clean break. Hard to beat that.

If a person is patient and/or has a lot of rifles ( ) - you can catch Geissele triggers on sale for the $170 to $200 range several times a year.
