WOODVILLE, MS (WAFB) - Two adults and one child were found dead after four Louisiana people were reported missing Sunday morning after a hunting accident in Woodville, MS.

The Adams County Sheriff's Office says they received the first calls around 6:30 Sunday morning about a possible drowning on the Buffalo River in the Fort Adams area. The Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office took the lead on the investigation.

Deputies say four people were getting off of one boat into a second boat being utilized as a duck blind on the river when the second boat capsized. One of the hunters got out safely and has been assessed by medics.

Search and recovery efforts found the bodies of a man, his sister-in-law, her child, and a dog that are believed to have gotten trapped under the boat and blind.

The bodies were recovered at around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to Woodville Police Chief Jessie Stewart.

Officials say the blind was in an area of the river that's about 7 feet deep, and approximate the temperature of the water to be about 49 degrees Sunday morning.

It is unknown whether they had on life jackets.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including the Mississippi Department Wildlife and Fisheries, Zachary Fire Department, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office, East Side Dive Team from Baton Rouge, Woodville Police Department, and Woodville Fire Department.LINK

According to the Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office, around 6:30 a.m., a group of four hunters were using two boats: a fishing boat and a pontoon boat. The pontoon boat was being utilized as a duck blind.

Authorities say that when the hunters were moving from the fishing boat to the pontoon boat, the pontoon boat capsized. One of the hunters was able to escape and make it to shore, but three remained trapped in the water, including the child. The water was approximately 7 feet deep and roughly 49 degrees.( WBRZ report)

How intricate was their duck blind that you could become trapped inside of it? People don't have enough common sense around water.

Gotdamn bunch of stupid going on there! The people that hint in this type of unsafe, unstable situation are simple idiots. And before some start the b.s. of how it's ok, it's not. Bringing a woman an small child to a F'ing unstable boat blind in the dark and cold, is about as dumb as you can get.

The boat blind capsized? fricking as negligent as a situation can get

Is the survivor the brother/husband/father/owner of those four? I'd kill myself. How do you go on from that?

Yep. From the Outdoor Board

Don’t think waders were an issue.

From my understanding it was an enclosed blind. One door with shooting widows. Made it difficult to get out.

Very sad situation. Families will need lots of prayers

Sounds like a moronic construction led to these deaths.

My parents had a friend die in a similar manner in the Mobile Delta. He was about as cautious and safe of a duck hunter as anyone. Turned out to be a freak accident and he was stuck under the blind.

I’m friends with one of the victims. We just competed together on a team at Wodapalooza 2 weeks ago in Miami and I spoke to him Thursday morning.

We haven’t heard on the other 2 yet.

im guessing several layers of clothes plus waders or hip boots made it impossible to swim.

add to that a kid and dog involved changes things as far as saving yourself first. im guessing kid and girl panics, pulling others under with them and a scene like that makes it impossible for anyone to get out
