Three Thoughts:

1) It was poorly written to use multiple signs for division.

2) I think the answer is correctly one, but completely understand why some people get the answer 9.

3) The Aggie got -1. If you got anything other than 1 or 9, i feel for your kids future.

(9-((3/1)/3)+1 isn't equal to whats written in the OP, but you already know that. This thread has been done many times.

That's the point.

I think it's just the opposite.

Those parenthesis clarify the order of operations.

This is why these arguments go on forever. Yall are chastising one group for using implied parentheses while simultaneously adding some of your own.

Google doesn't see a difference between ÷ and /. As a human I can understand that the person writing the problem used both of them for a reason.

3÷1 =3
3/3 =1
9-1+1=9

Wrong, you don't break apart the fraction. Treat it as .33. You can't break it up.

9 - (3/(1/3))+1

9 -(3 X (3/1) + 1

9 - 9 + 1

0 + 1

1

9 – (3 ÷ 1/3) + 1 =

That's where I want my parentheses

I don't fail. It's ambiguous. It's written poorly so smug people like you can argue one side while not realising you're making an assumption just the same as anyone else is.

No. People saying one are treating the fraction as written. You can't type a fraction any other way.
With the division sign I'm assuming 1/3 is a third not one divided by three.
You divide 3/ a third you get the opposite of answer than if you tart
Treat everything like division signs.

Stupid Question. 1/3 could easily be interpreted as 1 ÷ 3. That changes the question entirely.

3 ÷ (1/3) = 3 X 3 = 9

3 ÷ 1 ÷ 3 = 1
