The Oklahoma State University Cowboys basketball team plane crash occurred on January 27, 2001, at 19:37 EST, when a Beechcraft Super King Air 200, registration N81PF, carrying 2 players on the Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball team along with 6 OSU broadcasters & members of the OSU coaching staff, crashed in a field 40 miles (64 km) east of Denver,[1] near Strasburg, in the U.S. state of Colorado. The pilot had become disoriented in a snow storm.[2] The plane was flying from Jefferson County Airport to Stillwater Regional Airport after the team's loss against the Colorado Buffaloes.

I remember that only because of the Iowa State game.

Just a minute. Oklahoma State had a plane crash in 2001? I remember the plane crash they had in 2011 the week of the Iowa State game. I didn't know there was a second plane crash.

Yes it was with Men's Basketball team. That is why the crash before ISU was so weird.

Pio you missed the monument though in Gallagher Iba. The one you showed was from the actual site of the crash.

I was in high school at the time and was watching the late Sportscenter as information about the crash trickled in. Awful to see.

For those interested, OTL did an emotional, but really good story several years ago on one of the players that died.

On another plane, along with Eddie Sutton.

The alarming part was the plane had a history of electrical problems and wasn’t thoroughly inspected. Good to hear the university changed some travel policies after that sad event.
