In any capitalist society, prices should be based on values that are predicated exclusively by supply and demand - and not influenced by the rambling diatribe of a leftist ideologue.
But your Marxist governor's ideology got the best of him and has him speaking out against what he considers an outrage because in his system, only the ruling class should control production and values.

Y’all are both right, I won’t argue that. But my original point was that the style and delivery of TD has changed. I don’t necessarily have a problem with the negativity (it gets old sometimes, but I understand), but TD never used to be like that.. I can’t stand those facebookish news headlines lol

How many more years of this clown do we have? He will be the last democratic governor in La for a long time

Literally every major sports league in America utilizes a salary cap, and generally for the same reasons that the governor supports one in college football.
It’s fine if this infuriates you, but it is still a fact about the American system of professional sports.

Not sure where CFB fits in here.

You do realize America is not a purely capitlaistic society or economy for that matter right?

In a purely capitalistic economy the ruling class will be just as much in control. The issue with pure capitalism is it only works if there's perfect competition which we know not to be true.
America is a mixed economy. Good luck to you.

Reading some of the comments here all I can say is WOW...not surprising Louisiana is almost dead last in high school and college education ratings.

Everybody at this table knows that those are not taxpayer dollars but the general public doesn’t necessarily know that,
Every single LSU fan, alum, student, and employee needs to not re-elect Edwards for a 2nd term. Whoever is running against him in the next race needs to bring this up.

What exactly is a mixed economy in your thinking?
Anybody believing that any economic construct is perfection is only fooling themselves...now that we've gotten into economic theory. Capitalist is the most open economic means to personnel improvement, even with all of it's impediments. So if that is what you are referencing as mixed, then OK.

I said in any capitalist society, which includes any of all types of economies which are partially or wholly capitalistic.
You need to work on your reading comprehension, too.

He IS completely wrong. Governments setting salaries is called socialism. It sucks, and so does Dumbell Edwards.

Hmm, funny his argument doesn’t go the other way too, that the amount of money being charged by the university for people to attend amateur athletic events and for television networks to broadcast them is obscene and should be capped. So, cap what the university can pay but keep the amount of money the university can bring in unlimited. That works out really well for them, doesn’t it?

You said

That's simply wrong. the only case tis applies to is purely capitalistic economy, which is why i said what i said. So you either don't understand the difference in a purely capitalistic economy and mixed economy or you mispoke. Also, as i mentioned before, pure capitalism only works in markets that have perfect competition.
Pure capitalism and pure socialism are both toxic. A mixed mixed economy of sorts is usually the most successful.
You obviously don't care as I can tell by your posts youre an extreme conservative and extreme people on either side don't want a discussion they just want to yell their "facts". Again, good luck to you.

It's not my thinking as much as it is a defined term.
mixed economy pros and cons
quote:
A mixed economy is defined as an economic systemconsisting of a mixture of either markets and economic planning, public ownership and private ownership, or markets and economic interventionism. However, in most cases, "mixed economy" refers to market economies with strong regulatory oversight and governmental provision of public goods, although some mixed economies also feature a number of state-run enterprises.
quote:
Capitalism is an economic system in which capital goods are owned by private individuals or businesses. The production of goods and services is based on supply and demand in the general market (market economy), rather than through central planning (planned economy or command economy). The purest form of capitalism is free market or laissez-faire capitalism, in which private individuals are completely unrestrained in determining where to invest, what to produce or sell, and at which prices to exchange goods and services, operating without check or controls. Most modern countries practice a mixed capitalist system of some sort that includes government regulation of business and industry.
pure capitalism defined
I point it out because i find it strange when people call anyone who imposes some regulation a socialist or Marxist considering our country has been ran this way since the very early years of its existence.
