Into S2 so far. I like it okay to watch leisurely but not at binge or cigar level yet.
Anyone else so put off by Peggy's character they almost don't want to watch? She's fricking horrible.

Peggy does indeed suck
Show is a slow burn but still a great journey

Most of the big characters have major ups and downs. You will hate and love them at different times.

I binged it. At first I thought “why did everyone go nuts over this show?”
By the end I was so attached to it I was sad to see it over. It’s a really really great show.

It was a good show. It almost lost me a few times, but always seemed to pick up when it needed to. I thought Peggy became an awkward, funny-ish character adter a while.
Roger was awesome and of course, dem titties

Peggy's awesome you peasant
She's like Maggie Gyllenhaal/The Dark Knight bad. Bad in every possible way especially when references are made to her being attractive when she 100% is not.

It's certainly well done with many high positives.

This.
The only character that I never ever liked was Pete. Ugh, such an arse.
Conversely, the only character likeable through the entirety of the show was Sally. Bless her heart, that kid went through some shite.

Peggy becomes the best character besides Don.
There is a male protagonist and a female protagonist and Peggy is it.
Serious...
Spoilers...
Stay Away...
SPoiliers:
She becomes half the story...and her strange relationship becomes a big part of the story. Mad Men is all chauvanestic...but in retrospect it's a Women's lib show. Peggy, Joan even the wives of the men.
They all break away from being subsrvient secretaries to totally successful on their own merit.
If you don't like Peggy...you will hate the show. Don is the confused character, Peggy is the driven fast talking career gal character who doesn't want to get married.
The show is showing the shift from the 50's to the late 60's. Leave it to Beaver is collapsed - imploded upon itself - and even Don goes Hippie.
And the Pete and Peggy scene might just be the best scene in the series. Pete is such a fool. Peggy knows what she wants.

Ugh, Pete was a douche.
Best scene was when Peggy slapped his arse down telling him I could have had you if I wanted, but I put your baby up for adoption. Damn he cheated on the eve of his wedding.
Other favorite Pete moments : he tried to get Trudy to prostitute herself to her old boyfriend to get Pete's story published. He screwed the crazy lady in her own house and got the shite kicked out of him by her husband.
Maybe I'm missing something - how was Pete the greatest.

I hated Pete the first time I watched the show
Then when I rewatched he became one of my favorite characters. Can't really explain why

I tried binging several times. Could never get all the way through the first season. I really wanted to like it.

Uhh...yeah, he totally treats his hot wife like crap (Alison Brie) and he was a total douche in trying to blackmail Don to get ahead...and nobody gave a crap about him, even his adoptive parents...
But he kisses Don's arse constantly, the guy has no moral compass but from what he's been shown...this is how to be a guy. He is trying to make it in a world he has been shown.
Pete always seems like he is imitating the guy who gets ahead...copying him and he copies Don a lot.
And Pete is funny and frankly has great scenes in the show...that's why he's liked.
Signal 30 is Pete's best. Fights, wistfulness, shame, etc.
That episode when he's sitting in the driver's ed class and totally jealous of this young couple making out even though he just married a hottie and moved to the sticks....speaks volumes about what the writer is trying to say about that period. That scene reminded me of Reservation Road with Kate Winslet and DiCapprio.

What the frick? Peggy is possibly the most interesting character on the show. And Elizabeth Moss is a terrific actress.

I think I made it to season 4 before I lost interest and haven’t picked it back up. They lost me on the whole Megan arc. She’s an annoying character.
The first couple seasons were great though. I felt like it did a good job presenting the historical material without getting too preachy.

I don’t get the Peggy hate. Unless you just wanted the show to be ALL about drunken cheating.
It had everything. Peggy and Dons scenes toward the end are some of the best.
Even thought the ending was well done. Without getting spoiler-ish. The finale is a slow burn. They have so many loose ends to wrap up with about 10 minutes left. I was on the edge of my seat and furious during one scene that those who watched will probably know what I’m talking about.
I’ll have to do a rewatch.
