We already have communities of immigrants who are dependent on social services. It's not the future, it's the present.
Even with advancement in technology and possible UBI, mass immigration of poorly skilled workers will still tax the system.

Most countries with rational systems just want to ensure you don't end up mooching off their systems.
It's fairly common for it to be time based also.
IE, no mooching inside of 5 years or something similar. So, they're not irrational about it. If you show up kicking arse and end up disabled in year 7, it is what it is.
I'm all good with any similar system. Hell, just do a straight lift of the NZ or Aussie system as far as I'm concerned.
Then, I don't care where the frick you come from. If you meet that standard, welcome.

It's bad for the country other than to provide cheap cash labor source for small businesses. The Dems only care about the votes and gaining favor with the Hispanic community. I'm not anti immigrant either but it should be a merit based system.

The immigration issue is about votes, not compassion.
Just a few years ago both parties had the other side of the issue, they just traded.
Republicans turned a blind eye to immigration and Democrats "OMG! Exploitation and they're taking our jerrrbbbs!
