Also, I'd like to straight up disagree here. It is simply NOT healthy or acceptable to try to undermine the views of your opposition just because of who presented the views.

What the frick are you talking about?

If you are seeking to win a debate, by definition, it is at the expense of the opposing side. The use of the word "undermine" simply an inflammatory version of "argue against" which is fricking normal. Hell, YOU are trying to "undermine" my views in this thread. Which, is, as I said.......normal.

Calling "fake news" based on the source of said news should be a sign of intellectual deficiency.
Honestly, it would appear that liberals have absolutely no idea what the term "fake news" even means when used. There's a reason the word "fake" is used and not "false".

And, I mean, not to put too fine a point on it, but liberals really have no moral highground on this anyway. They've been playing the same card regarding every conservative outlet/person alive for 20 years.

Conservatives seem to live this delusion where they can insult an entire generation, calling millennials a bunch of lazy liberal snowflakes, and in the next breath claim that the younger kids are actually leaning more conservative.

You mean like deplorable, racists, fascists, natzis?

Yes. 100% ego play.

then why not pull an Obama and just sit in office, in power, and pretend you're doing stuff all the time?

I think it's pretty clear that's exactly what he's doing.

Maybe he did it to become more powerful, but the talking point that he did it to become more rich is comical.

Being the president is one of the hardest ways to make the big bucks- there is a microscope over everything you do. It would not be feasible to engage in large scale business activity while prez.

Somebody becoming a president to get rich is like somebody becoming a priest in order to have sex with a nun.

My god man, y'all have been doing this exact thing to Fox or any right leaning commentator for decades.

I cannot think of any cases of conservative thought/policy shifting further to the right. Can you give me a few examples?

Immigration. Conservatives used to run on the "American Dream". Now it's only come here if you have something to offer.

Cheers, at least you go out on the record and said something that brash. I personally think Trump has always appreciated what America is, what it did for him and his family... how capitalism is awesome and how democracy is awesome. I don't think a hard working man like him would NOT be aware of the price he would pay by running for office. I'm not going to say Trump isn't interested in power or money. I'm not a fool... what I will say is that I think leaving a legacy and making a mark on the world has always been an interest to larger than life people like him. Hell, I'm not even saying he's the type of guy I'd like to have a beer with. I think he's probably a douche... but that doesn't mean he doesn't have legitimate interest in his country's excellence and making it move forward... even while half of them kick and scream like brats.

Now... perhaps I will just lol... because Trump is a madman. That guy works his arse off.

The he Dems and republicans traded this issue across the aisle a decade ago.

I'm for opening borders, but you have to reform the laws first.

What we have now is virtual anarchy

I have seen nothing from Trump to indicate he even understands what democracy is and how it works.

I'm not sure the Obamas and Clintons would otherwise be worth 100s of millions.

Trump isn't a conservative, or progressive.

You'll see his policy veer leftward before he leaves though.

I think this was in context to someone that is already a billionaire. But yeah... good point, too.

You have to want to travel and experience other things. Being forced to move to Ohio for a pipe fitter job and trying to say you’ve traveled is quite different.

I spent four years in the military. I've been to about 15 different countries. Both of my grandparents were from Sicily and we visit relatives still living there often. I've lived in California, Florida, and Louisiana, and worked all over the country at one point. I appreciate other cultures and have no issue learning about them.

NONE of that has ever made me want to be a liberal.

Who has Trump tried to silence? Who has he tried to prevent from speaking.
Are you daft? I already said that no one is preventing anyone from speaking, but what is happening is quite possibly worse, IMO. Trump is training millions to simply ignore opposing views, and it's working. He doesn't have to be so overt as to silence anyone with a heavy hand. Some of that 38D chess you guys like to talk about.
