I'm not sure about the Lava Cantina downtownl. An ex-employee told me the business is already for sale.

I still can’t believe the CPK in Perkins Rowe is still open. That place deserves a much better restaurant than that garbage.

Lucy’s and now Lava Cantina, what’s wrong with that location? I mean, it’s on 3rd street.

Lava cantina on 3rd sucked. The only thing that makes the original good is its patio and live bands. No live bands downtown and a tiny outdoor seating area. The food is mediocre and way overpiced, as are the drinks.
Lucy’s wasn’t a bad place to hang out, but Lava Cantina was a waste of space.

Unless youre down there already, why pass up multiple better options on the way to go eat at either of those places

Both places had/have terrible food. I spend the overwhelming majority of my waking hours downtown, and I practically never eat there.

This place is fricking terrible. Awkward waiting staff and bland food, not to mention it's in such an awful location. I ordered a brisket po boy there and the bread was completely moist. Apps were meh.
How's BRQ doing these days? Can't say I am a big fan.

Quick access to I-10. Located off Highland Road.
In one of BR's best zip codes demographically.
Have CCLA, Santa Maria and Prairieville residents very near.
Attack the food, yes. But not the location.

Pelican House closing? Damn. I liked the rebrand. The food was decent and they had a good beer selection. But i liked going there for football games this season bc I didn’t have to fight for a table or seat at the bar, which was a sign the place wouldn’t last long

Why are people hating on Lucy's like it was broken when it had been there for years and years?

Galatoire's Bistro
Went on a Friday night last week and we were one of two families at the restaurant. We had 8 in our party, then another party of 2.
Food was slow to come out and awful. Waiter told us the kitchen was backedup and served several of us burned dishes.

In that general shopping location, that street that intersects Highland and is adjacent to Blue Bayou (Old Perkins?) is a bitch to get through with all the traffic, especially during the evening. It might be a nice part of town, sure, but turning into that parking lot is not nice.

I hope so. Take that New Orleans restaurant back to New Orleans were it belongs.

It was broken. That's why it's not open anymore

Gallatoire's is always seemingly empty, so that's a solid call. A shame.
I strongly disagree with the baw who said Boil and Roux. I've long concluded that's just a money laundering operation.
Yes, that Bleacher's place will close too. the menu looks like some college baws with zero experience cooking collaborated on. it wasn't even cheap either as i drunkenly ordered food the night I tried it.
I've been to barcadia recently. I think it has a decent chance of surviving. they took a lot of decent beer taps out and replaced them with more shitty domestics. I won't go there again unless it's happy hour.
As far as Don Jose's, I feel like everyone has the negative connotation with the shitty chinese buffet that was located there prior
I strongly disagree with anyone claiming burger joints will shut down in BR. It blows my mind how many cheeseburger joints this city sustains. the whole thought is as disgusting as it is impressive. talk about a fat city, baws

I've only been to that location twice, and it was fairly empty when we went. It was a nice experience, no complaints. I would think that's a very nice location. Not to fully agree with what the Pelican House chef said about BR (horrible business decision on his part), but I personally think there's only so much room for restaurants with a price point like Gallatoire's in BR.
eta: to defend Baton Rouge residents, I don't find many-if any-of the restaurants people have listed so far would have survived in Lafayette or NOLA.

It was only a matter of time before they closed. Went once and the service was the worst I have ever had. The only time the server talked to us was to take our order. We had to go to the bar ourselves to order our drinks. He had the table next to us and we were trying to flag him down to order drinks, but he just looked right past us. We told the manager and he just blew us off. It is music to my ears that they are not doing well, because I'm sure if we were treated that way, they treated others the same way and that will only get you so far trying to make it in a tough city for restaurants.

Ikura Sushi. As much as I like the place, every time I pass by or order takeout, no one is there.
