LSU fans will never appreciate Miles for what he did because of what Saban did at Alabama. The Alabama envy among LSU fans is really laughable at this point.

Les got stale his last two years but what he did prior to that was freaking amazing and he deserves that recognition.

True.

He was a fantastic coach that only lost his edge with Cam Cameron leading to the lack of an effective passing attack.
Yeah, Fedora did so much more with Harris.
You could blame it on QB eval more than development. There's only so much you can do with some QBs and putting more on their plate (MOFO routes) won;t help at all.

Miles, for all practical purposes, has been gone since the 2015 season. He hasnt been involved in play calling, recruiting, or the offense but almost 2 full years. He certainly hasn’t been in any way involved in the less than inspiring football hires that have been going on.

I’m just wondering here, but when does Coach O and the LSU athletic administration begin to be given full responsibility for what has gone on at LSU for the last 22 football games?

Whatever lingering effects there might be, I don’t think any of them had anything to do with LSU losing to a undermanned (Florida) team at Home in 2016, getting smashed by a mediocre Mississippi State team, and being embarrassed at home by Troy.

But by all means, let’s continue to be unable to see the forest for the trees.

well, Les was 10-10 against the West his last 3+ years.

Personally, I don't care if we go 9-3 (with most of those wins being against cupcake OOC and lesser SEC teams) and then win a shitty bowl to get to your magical 10-win total. Losing 3 games to our legitimate SEC competition isn't good enough, not for a program like ours. That type of "10-win season" isn't good enough.

Years ago, a 10-win season was spectacular, but there were only 11 regular season games and a dozen bowls.

Now there're 12 regular season games and a thousand bowls. Getting to 10 wins isn't nearly as hard as it used to be.

And there's nothing "entitled" about that.

How many time in the last 5 years of his career did he lose to the Gumps? How many of those years did LSU go to a major bowl or playoffs? His offensive philosophy was not very offensive to opposing defenses.

Miles is tied for most wins in LSU history vs Bama.

This is just your uninformed opinion.
Below are a few facts from LSU's own literature.
quote:

#1 Win%
#1 NC trophies (tie)
#1 NC appearances
#1 SEC titles (tie)
#1 SECW titles (tie)
#1,2,3 in PPG
#1,2,4,5 Scoring
#1,2,3,4 Offensive TDs

How did O as a DL coach dictate the offence?
Wasn't Miles given instruction to change the offence of else. Miles lied, said he would change and didn't. Alleva didn't lie.

If you don't have a leader/quarterback you won't have a strong team.

Where would Wade be this year without Waters?

Instruction from whom? Alleva? Go ahead and let him dictate the direction of our football program. He’s doing a stellar job so far.

I really wonder if people just read an opinion on here or from one of the talking heads and believe it as fact at this point.

Almost as bad as LSU didn't want to fire his friends. When LSU got rid of many coaches during Miles tenure. I mean shite Cameron was only at LSU for 3 years and his first season LSU set fricking offensive records. You would swear he was at LSU for 10 years and LSU continued to finish in the bottom of the NCAA in offense.

When there first started to be serious indications of wanting to get rid of Miles, one of my good friends was among those who really wanted to see this happen. I told him to careful what you wish for my friend. Told him when Miles was let go the next year that I would bet him, that no matter who coached for us the next 10-11 years, they would not match what was achieved in Miles's tenure here at LSU. And they may not even come close.
Looking more like a solid bet all the time.

I really don't get all the continued hate displayed for Miles. He achieved more than any other coach in LSU history by just about any measure. I've met the man and broke bread with him. He is a strong family man, and his biggest fault is probably his sense of loyalty. Like someone else said, he's been gone from the program for nearly two years. Let it rest, got plenty of other things to bitch about if you looking to do that. Maybe after the next nine years pass, most people will recognize what he achieved here.

Very good odds on that bet.
I wasn't even comfortable with the Jimbo attempt, and would've preferred a Saban defensive disciple (pre-Arranda).
After Miles stole Arranda and then got fired, I was hoping for a great offensive mind to compliment the DC.

Here we are today with a DL coach? FML, uggh.

And you made my statement true. Leslie made 10 wins not good enough for you entitled spoiled fricks. Ask 75% of college football if 10 wins a year is easy or acceptable?
