You mean the guy that committed to Clemson who didn’t offer him until Jan last year?
They went after Akers you our recruiting ace new coach missed out and then proceeded to not go after many RBs in this class, so no the 2018 RB is not on Miles

Never getting a good QB i.e. one that he recruited from the beginning.

wow, thats the *worst* lingering effects? whiffing on an RB and slowplaying a WR?
sounds like LSU was in pretty good shape when he left then.

Miles left the program in good shape. Alleva dropped the ball.

The head coach had no input on rb recruitment? Its ed o?
I don't like either coach but you guys soon it however you want.
They talk about recruits as a group and pursue them. They failed as a coaching staff as a group.

he majority of what Miles left behind were positive effects, not negative. Yes, the offense was stagnant under Cam, but the cupboard was certainly not left bare. Don't forget, Brennan committed while Miles was still around. Another thing to not forget is that O was the recruiting coordinator at the time. A major reason they didn't go after Etteine has to do with him.
This is a false narrative.
Miles was the Head Coach, he sets the priorities for recruiting and not the recruiting coordinator. Miles left us with a bunch of guards trying to playing OT. He left us thin on the defensive line. We were thin at linebacker. We were heavy on skill at WR but had a lot of attrition because Miles' quarterbacks sucked. No, the program was in decline under Miles. Les was never much for attention to detail.
Miles lingering effect on the program is offensive ineptitude, which became our "brand". His laissez faire attitude left the program in a malaise over the previous couple of seasons.

quote:Funny how Miles couldn't develop any NFL players yet you gripe about them leaving for NFL.
Fan base frustration
Depleted lines
No expectation for really good QB and no development of same is now normal
General lack of player development and/or usage of talents
Did I mention fan base frustration?
Joe Alleva is still AD
O brought on as DL Coach to begin with/Interim/HC now
Making declaring early for the NFL the goal for every recruit.
Alabama syndrome
Feuding fan base (posi/cheeri/negas)
If you don't want players leaving for NFL, sign ones without NFL aspirations.
Lines were OK until 2017.
Fans were frustrated with Jimbo.
Bama syndrome nothing new.
All this crap was around prior to Miles except the Alleva stuff and not sure what Miles had to do with that, if even serious.

CheeriOs:
"Les Miles had the greatest talent pool of any coach in NCAA history, so coaching is to blame for every deficiency in the team."
"Coach O has to rebuild because LSU has no talent, so every deficiency is either Coach Miles' fault or the fault of the players.

Bringing in O and not trusting the GREATEST PLAY Caller who has been TE coach for 20 years.
Posted on 1/11/18 at 1:57 pm to the LSUSaint
Seriously? A Miles bashing thread while Orgeron is in the middle of destroying the program? And of all things you pick the running back position to do it? All I can say is wow.

Has it occurred to you that Les was fired over a year ago. Do you have a life at all or do you live in the past in everything you do. His worst lingering effect is fans like you. Name one positive effect that you have produced

the last time miles was our coach we had the most olinemen make an all sec teamn a rimington award finalist and our oline led the country in yards before contact. dont blame miles for transfers under O. also you do realize that most college olineman arent really tackles right? most tackles in cfb are actually guards in the nfl because being a tackle in the nfl requires not only brute strength but incredible footwork and knowledge of your qbs tendencies in the pocket.

this notion that in mikes left this program in any state besided littered with future nfl players is just bullshite. could we have had more depth? sure but name a cfb program that couldnt use more depth

Still lingering - Only one I can think of is national and real stigma of 'having the talent that we do but lacking the results'.
Besides absolutely horrible kickers and sometimes special teams, we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot this year with multiple clock management and heat of the moment game time coaching mistakes.
