Is Social Anxiety The Next Excuse For Not Giving Speeches In Communication Class

Friend lets call her kalunda balunga.(no pics)
She is meeting with the professor because she doesn't believe she should have to give a presentation/speech for communication class/oral communications since she has social anxiety.
Is this a legit thing? Is this a millennial thing?

What happens when she has to talk in front of her co-workers when she gets a job? That professor better put his/her foot down on that.

Public Speaking is typically a required course for all students. If she has a legit mental illness and cannot give public speeches, then I hope she can be accommodated.
But of course like everything, this will be used as an excuse by the lazy shitheads that shouldn’t be in college.

It’s a millennial weakness thing that is being exploited by lazy individuals.

Part of the degree plan.
I said the same exact thing.

This is a student saying they can't take the test because it gives them anxiety. We are fricking doomed. This chick in particular.

Isn't that the entire point of the class?

It's much easier to talk in front of people you know than people you don't know
I've given presentations at work but the thought of giving a speech in class terrifies me
I'd work through it though and wouldn't even think about asking to get it out of it

frick her right up the arse.
I have social anxiety and got up there to do speeches anyway when I was required to take that in college along with group presentations in other classes.
It’s something to be worked around, not a goddamn crutch to get you out of stuff.

Reminds me of those people who are really smart but bad test takers...

Yea, everyone has to do things in life they don't like.
Getting out of a speech because talking in front of others gives you anxiety is not a good excuse.

she probably took the class because it was a requirement, so I don't see how she thinks she should be able to get out of it
but the way schools are so liberal and coddling these days, it may work

What an idiot. I just showed up extra drunk the few times I had to give presentations and ended up with an A.

When I was in my late teens/early 20s I used to think I had social anxiety. Ironically, it was a communications class I took at LSU that helped me get comfortable speaking in public, and I got over it.

That’s like taking a Physical Education course while being in a wheelchair. If she is forced to take it then she should be able to work something out, otherwise she’s a dumbass for willingly taking the course
