routes over the middle of the field

That was a defeciency created by the presence of Etling. I don't think he was capable of throwing a Y-cross pattern (mid range pass over the middle to the tight end) and completing it with any degree of consistency.

And that's another thing that disturbs me is that these kind of TE's, athletic, big and strong too like the WR have hardly been used since they have been at LSU. Not under Miles and now being wasted under Orgeron, Moss and Giles transferred to LSU to catch the ball, not be used as run blockers, so they better do something.

We had a TE this year with 24 receptions..not sure of targets.

our guys sure didn't run many routes over the middle of the field but that sounds like a coaching thing to me.

I think this was play calling, too. I’m sure there were a few sprinkled in throughout the season, but I cannot remember offhand a pass caught between the tackles all year.

The final drive against ND, for example. It seemed like they were rushing their front 5-7 DL and LB’s, while dropping everyone else into deep/prevent coverage. My buddy and I were fuming to each other after the game about not running a screen, a crossing route, a goddamn counter, anything between the first and second levels to pick up some yardage while we still had 2 timeouts in our pocket. But all of Canada’s plays were on the outside. That’s just how he calls it.

I guess that was a little off-topic.

disgusting as in filthy? As in a good way? BTW, don't forget about McMath in that list. It's not just Jefferson that's forgotten.

we haven't had NFL talent at the receiver spot in quite some time. ODB and Jarvis left and we never came close to similar production.

I'm not talking about the number of catches Foster Moreau had for the season, I said Washington and Pettigrew were underused, especially Washington who's been there for a minute now and was a really good pass catching TE coming out of HS.

I thought he meant $3006.00. Thought it was an odd amount to wager, but that makes perfect sense on tRANT.

LSU could have nickel and dimed Notre Dame on quick out patterns down the field the whole last drive against them, but they were throwing to routes that I didn't get at all falling right into ND's hands. You could have had Chark or whomever do 5 or 10 yards with Etling hitting them and them getting right out of bounds since they were playing so far off them like you said. They used a middle screen that easily worked against them hitting Guice who went in for a TD earlier in the game, and they never called it again, I'm like Wtf. They could haved used that play again to whomever (Guice or Williams) and let them ramble downfield for a huge gain before snapping it fast to throw it in the ground stopping the clock. So, many things they could have done to march down the field, but they chose to throw to the stupidiest pass palys.

You left of Racey McMath, TE's, Jenkins, and the beast Keenan Jones. Don't slight this crew. They just need opportunities.

I keep hearing about how much raw talent and potential our WR's have and hoping that we will see it pay off. Still waiting...

WRs can’t throw it to themselves. They need a competent QB and OC to get them the ball. We all know where our true issues lie

The talent is ridiculous without a doubt, and it calls for a offense that will start spreading the ball, probably the reason Orgeron got rid of (sorry) or is getting rid of Canada. I'm thinking he wants to go full spread now and pass the hell out of the ball and we know Canada wasn't about that. That's why you are hearing rumors about him hiring Kendal Briles or Freeze. With that many talented receivers you'll have to start putting the ball up to keep them happy.

Drake Davis is the most athletic guy on the team. If he could just remember the pats he would be very good.

If I were a stud WR, it would be tough for me to commit to LSU unless I knew I'd be used. LSU has been a pretty shitty place to play WR (unless you love to run block) for a long time.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess. I see this group-think BS on tRant way too often.

Some IRL facts:

Chark was the No. 5 WR in SEC receiving yards for 2017.

Three of the top 4 WR in the SEC played for Ole Miss, Mizzou, and aTm. Not really juggernauts.

Etling was the No. 5 in passing in the SEC for 2017. He was ahead of Fromm, Hurts, and Fitz.

LSU just signed the No. 1 WR for the 2018 class.

Oh, and the NFL is loaded with LSU WRs.

But, please, enjoy your group-think regurgitation, if that's what you're into.
