I'm just going to leave this right here for all the haters.

Star Wars:
The Last Jedi

Domestic Total as of Jan. 1, 2018: $531,511,829
+ Foreign: $523,300,000 49.6%
= Worldwide: $1,054,811,829

Any questions?

Here, try this on for size. I agree with every word of the OP and I commend him for posting his thoughts here.

If you hate people doing these kind of threads, you could just simply not click on them or even read them and instead go to other boards and threads. There. Problem solved.

There isn't anything more pathetic than people that try to be board police. I would know as I used to be one and then I started reading my posts doing that and I went like what the frick and just started ignoring it.

You honestly think that Disney is happy with that?

They're still leaving a frick ton of money on the table as this movie is underperforming. By a lot.

They were shooting for 2 billion and they aren't going come even close to that.

Less than three weeks after its debut, The Last Jedi has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. As of writing, its total is up to $1.04 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.

Only Beauty and the Beast and The Fate of the Furious did better globally in 2017, with $1.26 and $1.24 billion, respectively. (Despicable Me 3 lags just behind with $1.03 billion.)

The Last Jedi's domestic performance was arguably even more impressive. With $517 million in the till, it's edged out Beauty and the Beast to become the highest-grossing movie of the year in the U.S. Which makes 2017 the third year in a row that a Star Wars movie has come out on top at the American box office. Solo, you're up this year. While The Last Jedi has proven to be more polarizing among fans than The Force Awakens, it's clear that none of the argument has hurt the movie at the box office. It's true that The Last Jedi's numbers are falling short of The Force Awakens'. But that was always to be expected. The Force Awakens had novelty working in its favor, as the first Star Wars movie in nearly a decade; The Last Jedi is our third Star Wars movie in three years.

Yeah I'd say they are very pleased...but continue your pity party ;-).

Did you just really ask for this after quoting an article with no link?

I don't hold anything against them for trying to shake it up but they should do so respectfully. Why piss off the fans that got you to this point?

Its the largest drop off in dollars in cinema history. Disney did not expect that

Oh, and
quote:

Star Wars franchise price tag? $4 billion, the price of Disney's Lucasfilm buy

$1.5B - TFA, after production and marketing
$700M - R1, after P&M
$400M - TLJ after P&M
$2.6B - tot.

And they have fired the director of Solo, and put out a poor outlook. And still have Rian on board with a trilogy, which will cost them

So right now, they're not jumping up and down at the greatly diminishing box office of TLJ. This movie was to get them even. They could still be almost a billion in debt on the purchase. With no guarantees at this point that Solo and 9 will set them firmly in the black

No, son...did you not watch all the reports after the first 2 years of the deal? Disney made all their money back with one film and merchandise profits (toys, shirts, and all kids of crap).

That doesn't mean shite when converting to a percentage change, which is how you would compare to other movies. Some dumbasses on this board now a days
