O doesn't realize special teams is a 3rd of the game. But hey we signed a kicker that will count against the 2018 number.

Maybe O should coach DL. Then he wouldn't have time to mess with the offense.

What about Jeff Banks at aTm? I hear that he is a great recruiter of east TX and a good coach.

That’s exactly what is happening. The leadership at LSU consist of a bunch leftist cucks far more concerned with title xi and diversity numbers. The see LSU athletics as a means to an end.

You guys do know that special teams duties are shared by other coaches on most staffs; right. All these idiots asking about a special teams coach, need to research a little bit.

Alabama Staff

Georgia

Neither Saban or Smart have a designated ST coach.

Saban missed three FG's in the 2011 game at Alabama. He has never put a huge emphasis on Kickers because they have one job. It seems with his last few teams (not having a Tiffen on the team) he has recruited better kickers/punters. That cost him in that game and was one of the best aspects of the 2011 LSU team. However, I think Les fell into that with Wing and Tyrann, his last few years almost prove that.

There are other places that emphasize it, but not as much as it should be overall. The NCAA limits how many coaches you can have (changing this year), so it has been deemphasized. I read this all day yesterday about not having a ST coach. It shows most of you guys don't even pay attention that post about it. It will change next year. So get over it. There are a ton of other things to complain about, but no assigned ST coach isn't it.

It’s rare that someone’s very own link proves them wrong but you definitely just accomplished the feat

When you have players who field kicks at the 1 yard line, it might not be a "special teams coaching" problem....you might just need smarter players...

Coaches have staffs that share duties the same as LSU. Neither has a special teams coach just working on special teams. So as with LSU, special teams are getting worked on. Just not someone only doing special teams.

great link here and it’s a little dated. But only 9 power five programs had a special teams coach who only coached special team a couple years ago.

Because Orgeron wanted Pete Jenkins on staff, despite being a D-Line coach himself.

Which is not a bad thing at all. The real reason is promotion of Meatball to full staff.

There were 3 open coaching positions after 2016:
OC - Cam was canned
DL - O was promoted
ST/LB - Peveto was canned

OC - hired Canada
DL - hired Jenkins
LB - promoted Meatball from GA
ST - left “empty”
