Fact. It’s already been over hunted. Gotta go down I-12 or up I-49 to find deer

Lucky enough to find 450 acres outside of Liberty, MS about a month ago. May make a hunt in a few weeks.

Figured the Flood pushed all deer out and will take a while to repopulate, at least to Hammond?

Flood, snow, feeeze, CWD, 2011 drought, and the graphite plant in manchac wiped those deer out.

Seriously doubt all the bucks been killed. They don’t do quality management in those areas?

A lot of truth in this thread.

Did you look on any timber company websites?

Basically you need to know a guy, who’s a good ole boy(very important), that has a uncle who works for a guy that went to high school with a girl that married a guy who’s has a cousin that fishes with a guy who’s friend with a landowner.

And then be willling to pay twice the going rate, all while being assured your getting the friend discount

I’ve started looking at a lot of different places. But yes I’m sure you have to know someone to get into the best spots. I’m not looking for the best of the best just a place to try to learn and hunt without fighting public hunting!

I was in the same position a couple of years ago. Ending up getting a 100 acre lease in East Feliciana. The hunting is average at best, but I’m learning a lot and eventually want to upgrade to a better lease or buy property.

Maybe join some of the local Facebook groups and look on places like Louisiana Sportsman this spring.

Yea been joining them. Just started looking this weekend. I’m originally from Nrth La. still duck hunt up there but wanting something closer to do some deer hunting also. Been reaching out some, just unfamiliar to clubs or leases down here.

I'm originally from the East side of Monroe myself.

I'm also looking for something very similar to what you describe.
