Like Etling or not, only 2 INTs are phenomenal, and Canada deserves credit

Etling gets a lot of criticism on this board, and some of it is deserved from his misses, but he has been an overall serviceable game manager QB. I would get heart attacks whenever Jefferson, Jennings, or Harris would drop back to pass, but I trusted Danny to make proper reads on defenses. One of his 2 INT was a garbage heave against Troy on the final play. He was not good enough to win championships, but he was a huge upgrade from what we had.
I give Canada a lot of credit for this for putting Etling in good situations and giving him easier passes.
Canada's offense gave so many more receivers and TIGHT ENDS opportunities to catch the ball than in the Miles offense, which made them more engaged on plays and excited to play. Damn shame Orgeron can't get over himself.
Wherever he goes, I know Canada is going to be successful, and I hope Orgeron's buyout goes to paying him. Orgeron needs to have consequences for this terrible PR.
Good night.

All about being a good manager. You don’t give up the ball. Great stat. Hell of a accomplishment.

Really wish you would have waited until after the last game of the season for this thread

I'd like more than 14 tds, but 9.2 yrds per catch and only 2 ints is pretty impressive. This team could have easily been 10-2, and honestly a realistic 11-1. Troy was disappointing, and the handling of Canada is currently really disappointing, but I think we have a decent future ahead with two competitive qbs and some depth in the trenches now.

Many of you kids on here that have never played a down of organized football, literally have no idea how important OL is.
LSU is mediocre (On the best days) in that department and it makes all the difference in the world.
I hope Cregg can fix it with better coaching and much better recruiting or this program will be a yearly 9-3/8-4 one.........

Wait, Ive heard from many O haters that Canada wanted to play MB and O meddled in that decesion. So Canada gets the credit for DE success and O gets more shite because yall just mad? LOL ok.

Agreed, although that limited our passing game. But it didn't put ball security at risk like if he hadn't limited routes.

Not defending or attacking Orgeron on this, but unless you have been in those meetings I don't think you can lay the blame on Ed. There is a reason that MC hasn't had long stays at any previous positions and I would bet it has to do with personality issues. All coaches have egos. And Nick Saban's ego issue with Kiffin cost him a Natty last year. So it can happen to the best! But just like marriage is seldom 100% one person's fault, I would bet that there is blame on both sides and it might be too big a difference to overcome. If we find out later that it is Ed being petty, then we all should be pissed! But I hear that no one can get along with Canada.
As far as buyout, that's not how it works.

If Les Miles was the Coordinator, Etling would never pass, therefore no interceptions.... Does that still make him PHENOMENAL?
hmmmmmm
Etling Weak Arm (MANY UNDERthrown balls)
Now too his credit, the receivers were inexperienced and had ZERO Consistency when coming to catch the ball (flip a coin if they bring it in)
Now throw in the Injuries to the O LINE and Prior to start of the year DEPARTURES....
I would Love to just SEE THE OFFENSE ONE YEAR with an O-line..... I think it could be something special and I believe we are going to see SPECIAL tomorrow
Everyone Healthy on Offense and we will see what this has and what we will "MISS" w Canada leaving

Spread the field, take deep shots. We've been wanting that for years.

It's fairly certain that O wanted DE to play while Canada wanted Brennan. And whatever success DE16 had this year has to be attributed to the QB coach and OC (both Canada). But if Ed had given in and allowed Brennan to be the starter, which I believe had a much higher upside even as a freshman, we probably would have had many more interceptions and therefore might have lost 4-5 games instead of 3.
I'm not an O hater by any means but I think we would have ended the season being much better than we are if we would have made MB the starter by game 5-6. But I know that is Ed's decision, not Canada's, and the success or failure of his tenure at LSU rests largely on decisions like that that only a HC should make. So no one should give Ed crap for playing DE16 unless they were willing to lose a couple more games during the earlier part of the season. Cant have it both ways.

I agree with this. The question is how many fans would be OK with us losing 4-5 games? Would they say, give the HC a chance, he's breaking in a new QB?
"We'll be in much better shape next season if we start Brennan now." I saw it posted, but would fans really be forgiving of the team taking losses in a "rebuilding" mode?

Why do you randomly capitalize entire words? What's wrong with you in general? What the frick did you just go on a rant about?

He is better than AJ McCarron. He damn sure IS good enough to win championships. Now, he’s not good enough to carry abottom of the top 25 team to a championship. He is no Deshaun Watson, that’s for sure. But put him on Bama, and they are still in the playoffs.

What a crock. All offenses have high percentage, low risk pass plays. Avoiding interceptions is mostly the result of good decision making and luck. Unless Canada was more effective in making Etling understand the importance of ball security than other OC’s, it’s hard to give him the credit.

Please, ration and logic have no place in this conversation nor on this board.
