The winning numbers drawn for Saturday's Powerball jackpot are 28, 36, 41, 51, and 58 and the Powerball number is 24.

None of my 250 tickets hit. Damnit. I thought I had to win something with all those tickets.

There goes a boat note. Another month behind.

It must be rigged.

How much money would it take to have so much influence at LSU to determine who they hire as coach?

Honestly, what is the dollar amount because I’m almost positive we have nobody like that on the donor rolls.

Cash option is ~$278,300,000. Pay ~39.6% Federal and 6% LA State taxes and you're down to ~$151,395,200. Say you immediately spend ~$51,395,200 on lawyers, accountants, financial planners, charitable donations, large monetary gifts to family and friends, a couple of houses, cars, boats, a small plane and, of course, hookers and blow, you're left with $100,000,000.

The 91 Day T-Bill rate is currently 1.355%. If you sunk it all in short term T-Bills, you'd get over a $1,000,000 per year in interest income. Of course, you paid a financial planner, so you could conservatively and safely yield more like 4% or 5% easily. Unless you go completely apeshit, that $100,000,000 in principal will still be there when you croak.

It's a fricking shitload of money. You don't have to be Scrooge McDuck with it. I think I'd rather see my family's and friends' lives made easier than hoard the money or buy Jerry Sienfeld's Porsche collection.

Doesn't federal drop to 37% Jan 1st and isn't LA state tax 5%?

Could be. You'll notice that I said I'd be paying an accountant.

If the tax liability is "only" 42%, that should get you in the neighborhood of ~$161,414,000. I hope you're correct, because I can always use an extra $10,000,000 and some change! However, my point remains the same. It's an enormous amount of money and you could be very generous (within reason ... I'm not talking about building a new wing on a hospital and sending every stripper to college) and still have more money than a normal person would ever need. Personally, I'd rather spread the wealth among my family and friends, than have ten houses and a fleet of cars.
