Have a good friend who is big into running dogs. Mentioned it on here before, but they have a huge lease stretching parts of 3 counties.

Well, it’s def different. When set out some dogs at about 3pm on a track they had lost earlier. Within 15 min they jumped the buck and we’re going 60mph down a mid road trying to cut him off with 6 other trucks doing the same thing. Guy on radio says it’s a damn fine buck.

A lady shoots him in the leg with buckshot, and he keeps going into another block. We go to the power lines and wait. The truck in front of us then gut shoots him, and he comes crawling towards us. I walked up and finished him off with my CC pistol.

Deer ended up being a little 1.5 yr old 8 pt. My buddy says that’s a pretty good deer for dog hunting.

I get why he likes it. He’s very social and high energy. He thinks sitting still in a stand is torture. It’s just not for me. I enjoy the peace and quiet more than the crazy “dog race” as they call it. I appreciate his invite and he’s a great guy, but I’m just not a dog guy

I’ve never been on a hunt like that but you just described exactly what I thought it would be. That’s sad and pathetic

The "Dog Hunters" are a pain in the arse, they will destroy every road they can get down. posted or not.

I've been 20-30 times and it was always a hoot but I don't want them near my land.

Once the dogs are let out still hunting is done for the year

I want to reiterate my buddy is a great dude and I’m not passing judgement. If I’d have been raised dog hunting I’d probably love it too. With them though, it’s almost like the size of the deer isn’t the thrill like it is for us stand hunters. To them it’s more about the dogs (I’m not a dog guy) and the chance than the result.

There are different levels of sophistication with dog hunters. I know some that are nothing like the ones you describe, and are actually very responsible hunters.

I know a bunch like the ones you describe though.

Haha, funny you should ask bc I didn’t want to finish it off if it meant it was going home with me. My daughter has killed two the last two days and I didn’t want/need another one.

They gave it to the guy who guy shot him. My buddy said bc the girls shot wasn’t lethal. I asked a thousand questions bc it was all fascinating to me

Haha, I didn’t want to say it but the power line they killed him on was the border of their lease. They’re allowed to catch up dogs on the other side of the line but not shoot

Yea and it’s stupid and sucks balls.

I have 4 tags and I’m the only one hunting 360 acres

My neighbor has 60 doe tags plush 15 members and spouses hunting 2k acres. I killed a buck opening day with my bow. I have one tag left and have let numerous culls walk

We have family land 3(00 acres) surrounded by a lease than runs dogs. We kill deer every year until they drop the tailgate and then its rare to see one unless it had 4-5 hounds behind it.

They run every day of the dog season, dudes take three/four weeks off.

So I've seen all kinds of shenanigans from these turds.

I've dog hunted in the swamp before where we form a line and dogs push towards it. I didn't think it was that big of a deal but people here shite on dog hunting bad. I had no idea that the reason was people would drive around in trucks trying to get deer. Yeah, that's pretty shitty.

It’s more like they leave trash, shoot anything and could give two craps about private property rights..other than that they’re great guys

See, that doesn't sound anything like the dog hunting I used to do. Our was a dozen guys in stands or on the ground in a line and 2 or 3 guys pushing dogs towards the line, all on a lease. Makes sense now that everyone here shits on it they way y'all describe it.
