Thinking about switching from cox.
How is it compared between service and speed?
If you have ATT how much is your bill per month if you don’t mind me asking

ATT Fiber and UVerse 300. We pay $198 with taxes.

I pay like $150 for gigabit internet and U200 with sports package and HBO

I have ATT Uverse internet 25 mbs 1TB cap for $60.00 a month. I actually am getting around 30mbs. That price includes everything (Modem lease, taxes). Actually from what ATT told me LA. doesn't charge tax..I don't know about that.. but that is what I pay. No problems and no complaints.
I will say this, if you think what ATT is telling you is too good to be true...IT IS!! Those fricks will lie to you.

ATT in BR had so much potential, but their customer service and communications within their service divisions are so horrendous that they have crippled this area's service. There is little to no communications between their customer service, dispatchers, and local contractors.

Switched from cox to uverse and ATT gigablast internet. Gigablast is $70 per month and is awesome. Uverse is about $110 per month and I like it - no issues yet. Got ATT Unlimited plus on mobile phones and it saved me another $15 per month on Uverse I think, plus HBO for free

ATT tech here. Uverse HSIA over copper [does not equal] Uverse HSIA over fiber optic.
Max speed on copper tops out at 90Mbs d/l if you're within 1,000 feet of the source. Speed drops precipitously from there. It's usually a good, reliable service though, assuming it's installed correctly.
Max speed on fiber is 1 gig symmetrical (1,000 Mbs x 1,000Mbs) w/ 5ms ping time irrespective of distance.

Same here. The wireless boxes are great for bringing outside on the patio or to other rooms w/o having to have to pay for one you use once in a blue moon.
I only miss Cox Sports, but I have AT&T Sportsnetwork (Astros), and Music Choice is better than Stingray Music, but not a big deal.
ETA; we have Uverse fiber

They will give you deals. When we bought a house in Mid City, we got a deal where we had free HBO for three months, a 2-year contract at a little over $150 a month and we got a $50 gift card.
Stingray Music is great. My biggest gripe is that most of the OnDemand channels aren't in HD, for reasons I can't understand.
Having said all this, when our contract is up in the spring, we are cutting the cord and trying our luck with Hulu Live.

I dropped mine after too many service outages. Context clues told me that my neighborhood's infrastructure was too outdated to handle Uverse, and AT&T wasn't willing to invest in bringing it up to speed. Regular DSL was fine. I was sorry I upgraded and would have gone back to it if they had let me.

I live in the Southdowns area and my only uverse option is over copper. Does AT&T have plans to upgrade to fiber anytime soon?

I pay about $50 for u200, $75 for gigabit internet and $130 for two cell phones 15gb data. My total bill for all 3 is $250.
I see that some here are paying close to $200 just for tv and internet. You are getting ripped off if so. I fortunately have a lot of competitors of ATT in my area, so that may be why my cost is so low. I'd cut the cord if the costs go up much more.

Pay $114 a month with taxes.
Got direct tv with internet.
Internet better than cox and have no slow periods.
Tv is ok and the only time it went out was when it snowed. I didn’t know you had to wiper the snow off the dish. Once I figured it out I brushed the snow off the dish and it worked fine.
I do miss cox sports that is it.
I got fox sports channels, outdoor channel, nbc sports for my outdoor shows.
Pretty happy with it.

Fiber and U300 I pay $135. I was paying over $200 for similar w/ Cox. I also got a $100 Visa Card to switch.

I despise Cox
My tv & internet bill is 151.40
Includes movie channels
Promotional prices, not sure what it will be when that is up but absolutely no complaints
ETA
This would be my only complaint, but I get Root Sports which has all the Astros games.
If LSU baseball is on CST I go watch at my parents

quote:We're lighting up new neighborhoods every month. Plan is to have a majority of our plant migrated over to fiber by 2020. I don't work out of BR too often, but I know that in the D.S. area, our contractor rolled through the area around the high school hanging fiber from the existing utility poles about 3 months ago. I just heard that they're turning it up around the end of January 2018. If I were guessing, I would think Southdowns should be on a similar schedule--likely with fiber already pulled or scheduled to happen very shortly. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

I’ve got AT&T fiber and it’s legit
I ditched cox earlier this year after the fiber was installed in my neighborhood.
I’ve got U300 with these extra channels
FLIX®
HBO®
SHOWTIME UNLIMITED®
SHOWTIME®
STARZ/ENCORE
The Movie Channel(TM)
Plus 3 additional boxes (2 are wireless)
And U100 Internet
Total is just over $100 a month after I agreed to upgrade my family to unlimited data on our cell phone plan. (Ended up saving us $15 total)
I just did a speed test last night with Houston AT&T server and my ping was 26ms upload and download speeds were both 120 mb.
Overall I’m extremely satisfied. It was a pleasure turning in my equipment to Cox.
2 year contract if I remember correctly. I will threaten to leave when my contract ends and my rates skyrocket.

My parents switched to uverse—not gigabit—from Cox’s equivalent lowest teer. Ran a speed test yesterday that scores .14mbs. For comparison my cox internet pulls 268mbs. It’s terrible. I don’t see how they can charge for those speeds.
