Because of the importance of Jerusalem to Christians and Jews, and God (I assume) giving Trump the idea.

You are right. Israel gets to decide that. We just get to confirm their right to do so.

Are you seriously suggesting that every country that voted against the illegal placement of the embassy in occupied territory hates us? No one understands international law, just hate driven?

No it isn't, it has zero to do with globalization.

This is just as fake a claim as the claim that there actually a people historically know as "Palestinians" that had any territory to now "occupy".

One of the major disputes in the conflict is who has control of Jerusalem

Only for ideological/bureaucratic entities like the UN General Assembly. There is absolutely zero practical question of who controls Jerusalem. It’s Israeli territory, whether any of us like it or not. Zero to do with religion. They’ve controlled it on the ground for years now.

If President Obama had done this, the right would likely have spouted this same crap and i’d Have the exact same opinion. It’s not a partisan issue. It’s a silly semantical/procedural action, but it makes great fodder for fools who either a) have zero actual knowledge of the situation but must #resist anyway or b) think the UN General Assembly is relevant or makes any of the rules

As a side note, the very basis for your argument is that we shouldn’t call the city what it has been for years, because those whom it might offend would get too violent? And we are the problem?

Question: Do you recognize Israel as a nation, its right to exist in peace, and its sovereignty?

Yeah, I also believe that putting the embassy in Jerusalem does not do anything for us.

Well, the USA will no longer be involved in Middle Eastern peace negotiations. Considering there haven't been productive talks for years in any case, I'm not certain there is much of an actual effect.

It may ultimately harden the resolve of the Arabs to irradicate Israel. That's not a good thing, but considering the imbalance of power, a pretty moot point these days.

Will Israel annex the entire West Bank? This is a step in that direction. If they do annex, do they give full citizenship to the Arabs living there?

They would be stupid if they did that because they would become a Muslim majority country

Ok, so here's the better question.

Why do American taxpayers have to foot the bill for moving embassies, especially knowing they will have to beef up security?

Is Israel paying for the move?

Why is it a financially, fiscally conservative decision?

Nothing that can't be fixed. But let's put it where it belongs in the capital city!
This
Moving it could save the USA billions in foreign aid!
