Chase is in a different class than Watkins. LSU can sign a Watkins type most years. If no Chase than it gets interesting as to what coaches do on final schollie.

I'm not a fan of carrying excess WR. Anything more than 12 is roster mismanagement IMO. Signing 4 this year puts us at 13 unless Jacoby moves back to safety.

If LSU signs a good coup of DB's next season, those guys will be freshmen when these freshmen are jr's. After those jr's leave then those freshmen will be soph's. Won't be relying on freshmen, we will be relying on soph's. Still, I see at least 2 more DB's in this class.

It sucks that we can't take both, but Goodrich is the smart take at this point. LSU will be seriously in the running for some great RB's in 2019. Having said that, I'd really love to see Joiner in the Purple and Gold in 2018.

How I think it ends up
1 Surtain Jr
2 Joseph
3 Joiner
4 Goodrich

That's really how I think it will go down, too.
But I'm beginning to think taking Chase over Joiner is the better move. I really love Joiner (big back), but losing Chase in the bargain could really come back to haunt us.

Could be wrong but working at OLB for bowl practice?

Interesting. Maybe taking the Cory Thompson role since he’s out.

Joiner struggles vs public school kids...I'd rather another need

I'm just not sold on Joiner at RB.

Ducre could always move to tailback this year if LSU needs more physicality at the position.

Goodrich for Chase. Otherwise you guys will be screaming how in three years Orgeron depleted DBU.

This is how we got in trouble on the dline and at linebacker. Now you guys want to do it at DB.

You do realize we currently have 9 freshman DBs, right? All of them will certainly not be gone in 2 years. Not even half.

No. We have three guys who are redshirt freshmen. None of them will be here for a fifth year. In fact, there is a good chance Greedy goes after next year.

Some jackasses don’t realize that it really doesn’t matter who is on your current team. Each year you take...

4 or 5 offensive linemen
3 Big DTs
1 pass rusher
2 or 3 linebackers
4 or 5 DBs
1 or 2 QBs
2 running backs
2 or 3 WRs
1 or 2 tight end/ fullbacks
1 kicker or punter (maybe)

The only time you stray from this is if you have a dire need for depth, or you have to take a superstar.

Miles used to screw this up almost every year. Saban never has.

Where are we getting 4 positions we have 20 plus the kicker. My understanding is that the kicker does not count against the 25 limit? Please explain what I am missing?

I’m a big Miles fan, so no. Saban is perhaps the greatest head coach in the history of the game. It’s common sense that his actions would be used as a comparison.

There’s a lot of confusion about this. Recent news seems to indicate that he does count toward the 25.
