OT plumbers, mysterious tub drain issue

Upstairs bathroom tub completely stopped up. When I tried to run a snake down it it stopped about an inch down. There something solid there like a brick or something. Tried using a Phillips head screwdriver and hammer to hammer through it....no give. What could that possibly be?

Well that was stupid. You need to hire a plumber if that was your best idea.

Is the plunger for the drain stop attached? Mine had rusted off the chain and fell seated in the elbow...

Don’t listen to this guy. Keep hammering on that Phillips head something will give eventually.

How handy are you? Would you be offended if I said it might be a bend in the drain and you just tried to hammer a hole in it?

Should probably empty the water out. You may have to use a small pump. Then shine a light to see if it is just the elbow. You have to have an elbow not far below the drain if its an upstairs tub.

Did you actually stop and think about how dumb that sounds? A brick that somehow stopped up a drain?
This has to be a troll attempt.

Stop jacking off in the shower so much.

Stop hitting it with a hammer, you will end up knocking the pipe loose or cracking your tub. Just get a drill and a long enough 1/4" drill bit. Make sure it is not a cordless drill. Those will not have enough power.

About an inch down in my tub is a metal crossbar shaped like + which the drain plug screws into. Hair collects on the cross bar and slows draining. But some extra strength liquid drano and see what happens or just continue to jack hammer on the pipe until something gives.
