LSU is not beating playoff caliber teams with their present level of QB play.

And I'm not bashing Etling here. As a matter of fact I'm thankful we have him. He definitely gives us the best chance to win. But herein lies the problem.

We don't trust our QB and with good reason. He is not athletic enough to keep championship level defenses honest. His lack of mobility, arm strength, and decision making are just too much for his heart and desire to overcome. And again, I am thankful to have had him here and the success he has allowed LSU to enjoy this season.

What this means is that LSU's expectations for next season are limited to possibly repeating this year's success. Because if we had the QB necessary to make the difference, we would have seen more of it this season. And it's doubtful this staff had the guy who could develop him anyway.

At this point, it's gonna take an unlikely staff change accompanied with an immediately eligible QB for LSU to get to Atlanta or a playoff. We're talking Harbaugh to Colts, Freeze and Patterson to LSU Hail Mary level move.

Of course none of that is happening, but some of these posters appalled at the thought of Freeze at LSU, Sark was at AL, and Freeze at GA. Get over it.

Agree with much of your post.

Initial rub between Canada & O came from OC wanting to play Brennan due to Etling's lack of ability. O vetoed that due to possibility of freshman mistakes probably leading to losses since we weren't good enough to overcome turnovers and missed opportunities, in his opinion. They wen at it back & forth over this issue for 1st half of season until OC dropped the issue.

O figured that this year was a pass since it was year #1. And he would have some grace next year with an inexperienced QB. But if he had a returning starter at QB, expectations would be substantially higher. So he wanted to "bank" some wins this year with an experienced if unspectacular QB and try to get Brennan/Narcisse ready for next year. At last that is what I have heard from inside the building.

I like Canada's offense and would love to see a highly capable QB run it at LSU behind a good OL. With our WR talent I think we could average 45 ppg. It would be really fun to watch and after sitting through 15 years of Saban/Miles "get a little lead and sit on it and hope they don't catch up" I would love to see a little more wide open offense.
