Giving zero fricks must be so empowering.
quote:
Stage and screen star Sir Ian McKellen has spoken out about the sex scandal in film and theatre, claiming women are partly responsible because some tell directors they'll sleep with them to win roles.
'People must be called out and it's sometimes very difficult for victims to do that,' the Lord Of The Rings star said in a talk at the Oxford Union recently.
'I hope we're going through a period that will help to eradicate it altogether. But from my own experience, when I was starting acting in the early Sixties, the director of the theatre I was working at showed me some photographs he got from women who were wanting jobs. . . some of them had at the bottom of their photograph 'DRR' — directors' rights respected. In other words, if you give me a job, you can have sex with me.
'That was commonplace from people who proposed that they should be a victim. Madness. People have taken advantage of that and encouraged it and it absolutely will not do.'
Giving zero fricks must be so empowering.

Those women were just victims of the culture.

No woman will ever accuse Ian McKellen of inappropriate sexual behavior, so yeah he's able to say what he wants.

I love it!
Gay men calling out sloots, for taking out the gropers, that got them to put out, for fame and fortune.
The victim industry will eat him up for suggesting it was the wimmenz fault.
PS: And that director was laughing at those suggestive photos from all da wimmenz, because he was probably giving it good to Ian at the time

Ian McKellen and Brad Renfro starred in Apt Pupil directed by Bryan Singer.

I heard Minne Driver call out Matt Damon because he said we need to separate behaviors and can't put people that slap a woman on the behind with those who rape or pedophiles. Driver insisted that they are all the same.
I think attitudes like hers will destroy the validity of real actual cases of sexual abuse and make everyone tone deaf to the cause.

Seriously, how many actresses are there in Hollywood who were gladly and willingly banging everyone in site for parts?
Why aren't they discussed in this?

"Internalized Misogyny" and all that. The women are still victims!

It sounds like a culture was started by one group, then inherited by another group that didn't necessarily feel the same way. The old guard didn't want to hear any of that.
~shrug~ Just makes me really glad I was never part of the culture.
All I know, is if a dude try to do to my wife what these guys did, I'd be in jail.

a victim
Logic fail. Offering up something willingly does not make you a victim.
If anything, the victim here would be the director for being sexually harassed by unsolicited sexual requests.

I said when this whole thing started, what about the legions of women who rolled into Hollywood with every intention of jumping on a director/producers dick to get famous?
And who did so. And did become famous, some of which are the lading ringleaders of all things post-Trump femme.
