If the ball is fumbled out of the endzone and no one recovers, it should go back to the spot of the fumble just like it does if it's fumbled forward out of bounds.

If he never fumbles it, they win the game.

No, offense should get possession at the point they lost control of the ball. It's not that hard to have this be the right rule.
I just don't think the defense should be awarded a possession of the ball when they never earned it.

That was in response to anything else rewards offense

If you fumble out of bounds there is no penalty except there

Sorry, but players are getting lazier and lazier about reaching out and securing the ball.

Hang on to the rock, then espn will show your now legal team dancing.

This board supported it two weeks ago when it helped someone other than the Cowboys

I understand what you meant. but it didn’t go out of bounds. he extended the ball to try and score. it went through the end zone. you’d essentially be rewarding the offensive player for fumbling the ball if went back to the spot

Agreed. The ball should go back to the spot of the fumble. A fumble that goes out of bounds always goes back to the spot of the fumble unless it goes through the end zone. It’s a weird exception to the general rule.

Neither was the post that I replied to. They both obviously assume a raider TD

So if you fumble out of bounds at 50 why not give it to defense? Feels like should be same rule. You can fumble forward so did ball roll through endzone?

I've never supported this rule.
It's the dumbest rule in all of sports.

Next worse is the dropped 3rd strike and the batter gets to run to first.

I can't even defend that stupid arse play by Carr. He had the first down and wanted to be the hero by playing stretch Armstrong out there...

Plenty of time there had he gone out of bounds. Know what the frick is going on on the field derptard.

it’s equality of potential outcome IMO. anywhere else on the field a fumble out of bounds doesn’t hold the same weight as at goal line. if a player extends the ball and hits the pylon he scores, if it goes through the end zone the defensive team takes possession. it’s a weird rule considering what happens on the other 99 yards of the field but it seems equitable to me in this specific scenario

because you can’t score at the 50

This has been a rule for 50 years and players are coached to not extend the ball. Extending he ball to try and score is a huge risk, as it should be.

The extension is the risk nothing says ball always rolls out of bounds

I get what you are saying though
