I thought once the ball broke the plane, that was it.

Have you ever watched football before, more specifically passes into the end zone?

Nobody knows what a catch is anymore.

If he didn't catch it, he couldn't break the plane with it.

The “bobble” happened after he broke the plane.

He caught the ball, had possession when his knee hit the ground, then lunged into the end zone. Following the nfl rule book, that’s a TD as a soon as the ball crossed the goal line.

I have, but that pass wasn’t in the end zone. The guy reach across the line, “breaking the plane” in the process.

I don't know how you overturn that call when there was no proof it hit the ground.

What I'm confused about is the "bobble". It looked like it shifted from his left hand down to the right.

You couldn't see whether or not it was the ground that caused the ball to shift. If it wasn't the ground, then that should be a catch.

My issue with the reversal is that you cannot say for sure that his other hand wasn't still under the ball.

He lost control but it was not obvious that the ball ever hit the ground.

Call on field should stand.

How do you extend the ball of its not in possession? It's a shite rule that will be debated for a week.

shite. We all know it's a catch. It's been a catch since we were old enough to play catch in our front yards. Really upsetting what the league has become.

This. His hand was on the nose and under. Sure it moved but there was zero indication that he didn't maintain possession. On top of it being ruled a TD already. I think the refs just wanted to manufacture drama and it worked.

If you are playing against the Pats that is not a catch.

Obscure rule, but it is in the rule book.

I think it was a catch and a TD; however, it was ruled that it was not a catch, so he never had possession and could not break the plane.

From Mike Pereira's twitter:
"Look, here is the rule. If you’re going to the ground you have to hold onto the ball when the ball hits the ground…Going to the ground trumps lunging/reaching to try and get extra yards or score a TD. You do that at your own risk. It’s incomplete…just ask Dez"
