Steelers related - what’s the rule for catching?

Have you ever watched football before, more specifically passes into the end zone?

If he didn't catch it, he couldn't break the plane with it.

He caught the ball, had possession when his knee hit the ground, then lunged into the end zone. Following the nfl rule book, that’s a TD as a soon as the ball crossed the goal line.

What I'm confused about is the "bobble". It looked like it shifted from his left hand down to the right.

You couldn't see whether or not it was the ground that caused the ball to shift. If it wasn't the ground, then that should be a catch.

How do you extend the ball of its not in possession? It's a shite rule that will be debated for a week.

shite. We all know it's a catch. It's been a catch since we were old enough to play catch in our front yards. Really upsetting what the league has become.

This. His hand was on the nose and under. Sure it moved but there was zero indication that he didn't maintain possession. On top of it being ruled a TD already. I think the refs just wanted to manufacture drama and it worked.

"Look, here is the rule. If you’re going to the ground you have to hold onto the ball when the ball hits the ground…Going to the ground trumps lunging/reaching to try and get extra yards or score a TD. You do that at your own risk. It’s incomplete…just ask Dez"
