What's required, both parts-wise and monetary, for something like that?

Heater. Large natural gas line.

I've been told about 1500/month if it is cold. And you won't keep it warm enough in weather like the last two weeks.

I heated every pool I went into when I was younger. I still do, actually. Nothing’s changed.

Every time I pee in a pool I am just adjusting the temp.

to put it in simple terms, you install a boiler (water condenser heated usually by nat gas) then a pump circulates the heated water coming out to the pool through a water line, then a return line for the cool water to be heated again.

it gets more complicated when you figure in the connections on each end and some sort of weather shelter for the boiler to be installed into. then running water lines is usually done by putting them underground. it gets pricey, just use you imagination and then probably add another 10% to your highest guestimate.

or, fill a #2 foot tub with hot charcoals and stick it in the pool, replace as needed

Our house is gas powered so I assume gas.

I had a heater and removed it. You don't need one in LA often enough to buy one. Mine only gave me about two weeks of extra swimming before and after winter.

Don't do it. You'll spend money on getting it installed and then never use it because it's too damn expensive.

Gas heaters for my pool(28000 gallons) about 3500$. Then you need room around the pump to install the heater and hook it in line with the plumbing and return lines. Could be a 4 to 6.5k job. Gas is more expensive to heat than heat pump but it heats quicker and it will heat the pool no matter what the outside temp is.... good luck

They are using a/c condensers now in reverse mode that will drop the water temp like 10 degrees, not sure. Guessing depending on the pool size the cost would change. A friend just did it and said it should make the pool usable another couple of months in NOLA.

Yeah, like a few others in this thread, I have a lot of experience heating pools, and not to brag but it’s been nearly effortless.

I added an electric heat pump to my pool about 5 yrs ago

Gas are more complex with burners and will rust out

Did it my self On a given 50 deg day it will raise the temp say 15 degrees with a 2 day run

its been great for the early spring 50 deg nites, it has extended our pool use by say 3 months
