Alabama's top election official estimates that turnout for the hotly contested U.S. Senate election now underway will likely be around 18 to 20 percent of registered voters.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill tells The Associated Press there's also a chance that turnout for the special election could be as high as 25 percent.

anyone besides me disgusted by the low turnout?

The winner will have 9% of the non-felon vote

If you don't care enough to go vote, I don't want you voting. I understand many people believe everyone should vote, but voting just for the sake of it doesn't promote the republic in my view.

Uhhhhhh...what? Those numbers are absolutely astronomical for a special election.

If one doesn’t feel qualified to vote, then don’t!

Low turnout is how republicans win elections all the time. Why would anyone here be disappointed?

The problem is that they never update the voter list. I haven't lived in Alabama in over 8 years and I checked on line during the presidential election and I am still registered to vote in the same place I voted most of my life. Voting in this country is a fricking joke.
