That is EXACTLY the issue here.

There isn't much modern legitimacy in laying claim to all of Jerusalem for Israel because that was the center of the Jewish state in biblical times. In the modern world, Jerusalem is a shared city.
One of the problems is that Trump wants to be provocative in everything he does. But he does not have to deal directly with the people he intentionally provokes, nor does he have to bear the human consequences of the provocation.
People will be killed because of what Trump says on this issue. Trump apparently does not care about that.

quote:Sure there is. They have the biggest army in the region and no one can take it from them. That’s as legitimate as it gets.

Where does Israel consider their capitol city?
Wherever that is is where we should have our Embassy.
Next question.

The list of leftist a-hole politicians who supported this right up until someone actually did it is rather astounding.

You do realize not every embassy is in every capital city ?

I'm no fan of Israel at all. In fact, they're a pretty terrible ally.
But the President is just carrying out a law passed in 95 that that had well over 90 votes in the Senate and 375 in the house and was recently reaffirmed unanimously this past june. He's just honoring their wishes.
Besides, the status quo of Tel Aviv for two decades has simply not worked and frankly I think this will do a bit of good for the peace process and could shake it up.
Oh and a few european and asian countries have already expressed interest in moving their embassy to Jerusalem today because Trump; that's American leadership.

I think I saw reports that Kushner was opposed to it as he felt it could undermine the two state solution.
But it's just a report with muh sauces.

I find this extremely weird for a nazi to side with the Jews.

Bc they have dictated our policy for ever

Well of course they have but I'm not going to ignore that this being a new wrinkle in Foreign policy could do quite a bit of good for the peace process.

Congrats to them wanting the status quo that has done nothing positive at all preserved.
They'll come around eventually.

I just don’t see the point in wasting resources and time turning the consulate there into the embassy just to make Bibi happy ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Classic leftist response when republicans do anything: “PEOPLE WILL DIE OH MY GOD”
People would be killed if he did it, people would be killed if he didn’t. Get the frick out of here with your fake high minded ideals.

And fricking wonder boy Obama said he would do it and didn’t because everything about his campaign was a lie
Whose arse was he kissing when he said he would do it?

And that is the PROBLEM. Military units in the CENTCOM AOR as well as select units stateside are in an elevated alert posture....sadly, they'll face the human consequences, if necessary, certainly not DT. So much for leadership from the front, and leadership by example.
