Getty Images Walt Disney Co. and 21st Century Fox are closing in on a deal and it could come as soon as next week, according to sources familiar with the matter. CNBC has been reporting that Disney has held talks with the Ruport Murdoch-controlled media company to acquire its studio and television production assets, leaving Fox with its news and sports assets. The enterprise value for the Fox assets in the Disney deal is seen as above $60 billion, according to sources.

I hope not. They need to stay separate. Plus this would only give us an X-Men movie once every 3 or 4 years to not compete with the other properties.

Or maybe they would give us the mutant massacre on film.

Cycles are happening faster now. Deadpool showed that Feb doesn't have to be a dead time and November can be huge, too. So beginning of summer, middle summer, November, Feb.

I’m excited for it. The Fantastic Four and especially Doctor Doom NEED to be in the MCU. Fox hasn’t gotten them right yet so leave it to Marvel. He’s one of the greatest comic villains and could be the next big bad after Thanos.
That I’d expect. What’s curious is what will happen with X-Men and Deadpool. Total reboot? Soft reboot? Using infinity quantlet to merge the worlds somehow? It’ll be interesting to see what they do.

From the same studio that neutered Ultron? Fox is willing to get their hands dirty with risks on the franchise. Disney is highly calculated and would not be good for the X-Men franchise. There’s no way in hell that Disney would have approved of Deadpool or Logan.
I’m fine with them getting the Fantastic 4, but leave the X-Men out of this. I have a problem in the comics themselves that the X-Men are in the same universe as the Avengers. Their universes just clash completely.

Hopefully not, one of the biggest complaints about Marvel continuity is Mutant Registration Act makes no sense in the setting outside mutants.
It took around 30 years (real time) to even get to the SRA and Cyclops to tell Tony off.
Mutants and their stories are best on their own.

They are just building up their catalog of shows to offer when they launch their streaming service. It's really going to hurt Netflix.

While the comic nerds seem happy about this, I hope you jackasses realize that Fox pulled it's content from NetFlix about the same time Disney decided to opt out of their deal with NetFlix. So instead of having Fox and Disney/ABC content on NetFlix for the $10 a month you're already paying, you'll soon have to pay $5-$15 a month to access this same content from a separate Disney service. But Wolverine might throw a punch at Tony Stark one day so it will all be worth it.

Agreed. You’d think the general population would have more sympathy for mutants than say Iron-Man or the Fantastic 4 whose actions caused their powers. But nope, let’s go after a bunch of terrified teenagers instead who have no idea what’s going on. That’s always bothered me that they share the same universe.

But in effect, it seems you're implying business can't do what they want so that we can have proper viewing options on Netflix? Netflix is going to have to A) Find some other set of content B) Lower Prices or alter packages C) Do something else
As a company, they should be nimble enough to do this. it does stink for streaming, however, I think we're in the middle of things settling into place. Maybe for the next 5-10 years things will be slightly annoying (It already is with Netflix vs. Hulu), but eventually it will settle, the market can't support users paying for 3-4 streaming services on average right now, so it will correct itself.

No man, this about the searchlights on Star Wars and Cosmic Marvel.
This is so we get to see Dr. Doom be the man.

I hope that isn't real.

Not saying that at all. These companies are completely free to do their deals. But that doesn't mean consumers should be happy about them. Marvel fans aren't thinking about the many ways this deal will affect them. Instead of the latest Star Wars and Marvel Movies streaming on NetFlix after the DVD sales window, they'll now have to buy a separate service to see them. I don't know if FX's Legion has any streaming deals set up yet, but if it doesn't you better believe the back seasons of it and The Gifted will be behind Disney's paywall as well.

NetFlix's response to Disney pulling out was pretty much "OK then, frick You Too." They hired away ABC's top hit maker in Shonda Rhimes and bought a Scottish comic book company owned by the author that is credited with story lines for several of the Marvel movies.

As excited as I'd be for Marvel to have the X-Men, Fantastic 4 and such back, I would really be bummed about Deadpool being made PG-13 and neutered for kids.

Makes me wonder if disney would keep those films under another studio like they used to do with miramax.
