Isn’t repealing net neutrality just going back to how it was for decades?

I may be totally mistaken, but wasn’t “net neutrality” implemented during the Obama administration?

And wouldn’t repealing it just put everything back to how it was?

What was wrong with the way it was before?

We’ve always operated under the principal of net neutrality even if it was recently codified into law (as a result of telecom shenanigans where they stopped working under NN).

They have no intent on operating under that principal once repealed, so no not going back to the way it was.

Why do all of the big corporations support net neutrality?

Treating monopolies like monopolies is generally a good idea.

Anyone who thinks internet providers are a good example of the free market should ask why theres collusion between such healthy competition.

Assuming bc they can afford to purchase their way onto popular pages. More nutrition for the big trees if the small plants are gone.

Because it is almost everyone’s interest to have net neutrality in place including theirs so they support it.

There are very few who benefit from repeal (certainly not the consumer), basically just the largest of the ISP's and who ever they subsequently merge with.

That was when Comcast was making money off cable. Now with all the cord cutters they're going to have to put the screws to us through internet costs.

Explain to me how the internet and its usage today resembles how it was for decades?

The telecom companies will be even more profitable now that reddit and 4chan have created all of their new pricing ads for free to show the new tiers of service.

Uh no, people still buy cable and people can purchase internet only packages, if they cannot now they will be able to soon.

I know Mark Cuban is not well liked here, however he is against NN, people would do good for themselves if they listened to him talk about it.

Would you be ok with the water company deciding how much pressure your house gets depending on the brand of shower head or toilet you use?

Would you be ok with the electric/gas companies deciding how hot your stove can get or how long your oven can stay on depending on the brand of oven you have? Or the type of food that's in it?

Do you see how that can stifle competition and kill startups?

DO you see how the argument "well the free market will sort it out and someone will just build and install an entire new water company and pipes accross the country" is asinine?
