Pac-12 commish: USC should get nod over 'Bama with win over Stanford

That’s a bold take. Though, we should hardly be surprised Scott is of this opinion, given he’s paid to make the Pac-12 look as good as possible whenever possible.

While Alabama has had its cupcake opponents this year, it’s important to note that the only loss on its record was on the road in one of the toughest places to play this year in college football. Obviously the CFP committee doesn’t see USC as having a similar strength of resume. The Trojans entered Week 14 No. 10 in the nation, while ‘Bama is No. 5 even after losing last weekend.

I know every year every team is different but he must have a short memory of the last time USC played Alabama. USC has a really bad loss to Notre Dame. Now, Alabama does not deserve to be in the playoff as they did not make the conference championship game.

As much as I hate Bama. The quick answer is no.

I agree. I think you should have to be a conference champion to be in the playoff.

Funny how Bama fans opinions change depending on weather they are SEC champs or not.

I bet an 0-12 Bama team should get in every year, right.

Why because we aren’t finding the best team we are finding a National Champion

Herbstriet is the only one who has said it’s best teams. The committee hasn’t said it.

Until they expressly say that it’s not a horrible opinion.

I can understand his argument. But if Ohio State and/or TCU win they both deserve to be in over USC so it doesn’t really matter.

doing what he needs to do and say... no one buying that. USC not very good. Top 5 teams would steamroll them.

If you’re not qualified to be in your conference championship, how are you qualified to be in the playoff?

Edited to be more clear as to what I meant.*

USC, albeit a conference champion, lost 30-27 to Washington State and 49-14 to Notre Dame. Really good teams don't lose 49-14 to Notre Dame (or 55-24 to Iowa).

I'm a proponent of giving conference champions some leverage in the selection process; however, USC shouldn't get the nod over a one loss (to a top 4 Auburn) Alabama.
