We might never be as good as we were in 2011 ever again.
I expect I've got another 30+ years to live, conservatively.
As long as football remains a popular sport -- no sure thing with all this CTE stuff going on -- I'm fairly confident LSU will have another run (or two) at greatness.
I do not think the Les Miles era will be remembered as the "Golden Era" of LSU.
In fact, I think the true "Golden Era" will start in a few years, when Saban retires.
So... it's true LSU might not have another genuinely great season like they did in 2011. I think that they will, however, within the next 10-15 years.

For every poster that says no, go back and look at their comments about Miles and the program in 2008 and 2009.
Then you’ll know whose rantings to disregard

I would love for you to tell me why you're worried about recruiting. Please tell me it's about the stars.

People take 2011 for granted. If they win the rematch on 1/9/12, that team is in contention for GOAT CFB team. The team should still be regarded as one of college footballs best to not win the whole
I've seen this a lot over the years, and I've always kind of accepted it at face value, but wasn't that the year we had some really stinkeroo games on offense, especially after they changed QB's?

O has a possibility of having a class ranked out the top 10 for the first time in a long time at LSU
The 2012 class was ranked 12 by 247 and like 18 by rivals
Les also had some other classes ranked 10-12 by some services

If LF did not have a busted ankle, LSU beat WI and AU that year. Miles is still head coach.

We had one “stinkaroo” showing on offense after the QB switch. The first half of the SECCG when we beat a top 10 UGA team by five touchdowns.
As for the quarterback change, how would you describe LSU’s offensive performance in The Game of the Century before that change was made?

Question: Do you consider seasons like 61', '69, '87, '05 and '06 great seasons? Or does the lack of a NC during those years rule them out of any "great season" worthiness in your opinion?

They demolished every team not named bama that year. Defense and special teams were scary good. Just no good QB play

hmm. We have the lowest ranking since les came here. I will not judge his recruiting till i see the players on the field though.

You say offensive philosophy like Les had 1. His philosophy was trying to run over a DL with an OL that wasn't as good.
But he was also covering for his non throwing QB. He had terrible luck or poor evaluation in the crootin business when it came to QB's.
Just hope O doesn't decide which QB Canada croots and trusts him with the offense going forward.

No because Frank Wilson built that team and he was gone

Probably so.
But Wes Nile would have fricked it up again.
Time mismanagement.
Shitty play calls
Run the same 6 plays he ran for 11 years
2 quarter back controversy year end and year out.
Choking on play calls in last minute games
Continuing the trick play calls even when they don't work.

You forgot to mention his .48% winning percentage during his last 5 years as head coach.

2016 Proved that Les was not willing to make changes. After the 2015 miracle uprising to keep him, he didn't learn a damn thing. No, reality was never going to reach him, and this is why he has not been hired to any big name program.

For the season we averaged 355 yards per game on offense in 2011. This season we averaged 412.
Defensively in 2011 we held opponents to 261 yards per game. This season 311.
The big difference was turnovers and special teams. That's where the 2011 team really excelled.

Are these two things connected in any way that you can see?
