Georgia Dome was destroyed today after 25 years.

The Roman Coliseum still stands after 2000+ years.

Seems wasteful.
8 home games times 25 years = 200 games...throw in some concerts and you have 400 events in 25 years. Doesn't sound like a lot. What's the deal?

People don't travel from all over the world to see an empty Georgia Dome.

Apparently not since they are just turning it into a park.

Astrodome is still here. Looks like shite, generates nothing of value, and takes up a huge amount of valuable property.

You were only off by a factor of a little more than 3.5.

The Dome was the site of 1,456 events attended by 37.6 million people over the past quarter-century. In addition to Falcons games, the Dome hosted two Super Bowls, three Final Fours, 152 college football games and Olympic basketball and gymnastics, among other events.

would you have proposed the old dome just sit there doing nothing? There are far better uses of that space now that we have MBS. And to answer the question that is likely to follow...MBS was built to keep up with the ever increasing quality of other stadiums. Atlanta wasn't going to get the super bowls and world cups and who knows what else it's going to without a better stadium.

Because we allow the taxpayer to foot the bill for these disposable arenas. It's free money!

We built shite, tear it down and replace it with more shite.

People are dazzled by new, that don't give a shite about stuff that lasts. It's bad for business. New stadiums probably have a 20-30 year life now

What was wrong with it? It seemed perfectly fine to me.

Primarily that the Falcons played there.

Nothing comes close to the coliseum and the events that were held there.

Are you comparing the Roman Coliseum to the Georgia Dome?

Just when you think you've seen everything on the OT. OP is probably serious at that.
