Adding Rear Entertainment System in SUV

Does anyone have any experience with an after market rear entertainment system. We didn't get one in my wife's car because the screen blocked the rear view mirror. Now that kids are a little older considering adding one because the cheap DVD players we have tried suck. How do they look in headrest or back of seats?

We have one, it's called an iPad. Super easy to install, you just hand it to your kid.

I too would like an answer to this question.
So if by chance you dont like the OP, and were considering ignoring him, then answer it for me
If, however, you refuse to answer because you dont like me, then, OP, I apologize.

beat you to it.
entertainment centers in vehicles suck compared to giving you kid an ipad and some headphones.
they can actually play games & shite if there's no data and not forced to all watch the same dumb movie.
you're just going to flush $1000 or more down the toliet and add something else junky to your car.

I bought my 2 kids each an amazon fire tablet and some headphones for about $125 total. Keeps them quiet for hours.

If you can catch iPad minis on sale or a fire tablet as someone else said you'd prob be cheaper than installing head rest tvs.
Advantages include, you don't have to mess with DVDs, each kid can watch different stuff, they can play games.
Another big plus is they can us it wherever they go- planes, trains, grandmas house.
Much better than a permanent set up IMO.

For 6 hour trips it seems like they would run through data quickly. I do like the idea of having Netflix with the iPads as well as games though. Most dual systems are independent and let kids watch their own movies with headphones. I've seen prices around $200-300 which isn't bad.

permanent setups are a cesspool for nasty headphones left in the car, scratched piles of DVDs and a hassle as to who gets to watch what movie.
in short, i wouldn't even consider having one in a new vehicle.

Trashy
jk - I had one installed in a suburban years ago. It worked and had no issues. I think the headrest ones will be more expensive than one mounted in middle but I could be wrong.
