This season is over, LSU is going to a mid-tier bowl game which will hopefully be against Michigan, however, next year is the year.

LSU will be replacing Etling, Malone, Guice, Williams, Chalk, Weathersby, Key, LaCouture, Paris, Thompson, Alexander, Herron, Gilmore, and possibly Toliver.

The defense should again be among the top 25 in the nation, the offense may be around 50 as LSU still has talent. Curious to see what Canada and Aranda can do with these units in years 2 and 3.

Opening against Miami will be huge as if LSU wins out they have a chance to be near the top 10 and Miami will be in the top 10.

LSU wasted this season with 5 SEC opponents firing their coaches and Alabama not being as strong up front as they have been.

LSU blew an opportunity with this weak SEC.

LSU may improve but so will the other teams.

Do you know for sure Weatherby is leaving early?
Paris might get a medical RS
Jackson is going to leave early before Toliver
i don’t think Toliver is going to get a draft grade he likes

There is no way to slice it. Next year first half of schedule is going to be brutle. A lot of growing pains will be experienced early.
Team has to fight ever single weekend like hell and not take anything off. Not only to win games but to develop and get quality reps. Myles will have to grow up each game. I? wont expect a messiah the first 3 games. But after mid way through the schedule I? expect someone that has maturity and toughness that can carry us in the future. If this doesn’t happen it is going to be a long and miserable season.

we need to retain Clapp big time. if that's the case, losing Weathersby will not be catastrophic. we are breaking in a new QB and probably a new RB. our production at RB will have to be made up with another back or via the air. losing chalk will also hurt.

all in all, if Brennan develops we can be a pretty good offense esp. if we sign a stud RB.

our Defense will be better than this year imo. our two transferred DL will replace Herron and Gilmore.

Etling is no loss. Put another way, if he is then there will be yet another year of frustration for Tiger Nation. This team needs to get a QB or it will just be another SEC also ran. Losing to Troy and MSU was inexcusable. Good QB play probably beats the Gumps.

The waste of the season, is a little harsh. What I took you pointing out was, we had a great opportunity to win the SEC and make the playoffs had we not shite the bed against MSU and Troy. We were better than Bama as they had no LBs and injuries happen. Better teams find a way to win and that is what they have done against us and MSU.

Here are the stats for the junkies:
Wins: AU, UF, OM, Arky, BYU, Chatt, Cuse
Teams records: 29-35. 1 win over a team with a winning record and they shite the bed. It was a win nevertheless.

Losses: Bama, MSU, Troy
All 3 have winning records:
26-5 overall.

So what does it prove? They team has basically played an easy schedule and were lucky to get a win against AU.
They are poorly coached. Receivers can’t get off of blocks. QB can’t see or throw them open.

Until we find a way to the gumps we'll continue to be the 4/5th best sec team. Unfortunately and sadly thats what we are. Had we beat the gumps we would be a top 10 right now irregardless of the the Troy game. But again, we didn't.

LSU will be mediocre as always. Who are we kidding. They will be a 3-4 loss team every year with this clown show going on.

Already "baked into the cake":
- Malone, LaCouture, Paris, Gilmore

Depends on the next guy up and getting him ready... i.e. could turn out to be an improvement:
- Etling, Thompson, Herron, Toliver, D. Alexander, believe it or not... Chark

Ugh, hurts:
- Guice, Williams, Weathersby, Key

The defense will depend largely on the DL (all of 'em... roatation) putting in S&C in offseason and getting those young one's like Chaisson prepared (they did 'ok' at times this year). Worth noting we might not be facing Rosier next year (rsJR).

I'd say at least the D of the "U is back", offense will have to be ready. Period.
