Really wish they'd go with Brennan the rest of the way.

When your QB drops back and the opponent sends a blitz, you gotta trust your guys to pick it up. His guy did, but Etling bailed on the play anyway and ran into a sack when his blockers picked up the blitz and gave him a clean pocket. I'm sorry but this bothered me the most from him even more than his misfires to open receivers. Your QB can't be out there not trusting his guys to protect him and making panicky throws.

I really would rather us start Brennan the rest of the way. He already can't be redshirted and any hopes for a division title is all but gone. Get the dude some starts under his belt for next year, Arkansas and Tennessee are god awful anyway, seems like a golden opportunity to see what your future QB can do and get some growing pains out of the way while you can.

Based on the OL play up to this point, why would he trust them?

Yes, the OL played great against Bama but Danny was under duress in pretty much every other game.

He should have PLENTY of opportunity against Arky and Tennessee.

Possibly even aTm.

No reason to bench Danny. Perception is still valuable. And benching a senior who has given as much as he has is not a good look.

Let Danny start and get a comfortable 3 td lead; bring Myles in the rest of the game. Maybe even give McMillan a series or two.

Leave no stone unturned to see if either is a true GAMER.

Because you don't give up on your teammates? Especially when they're playing their hearts out to give you the best opportunity to succeed in the biggest game of the season. But regardless, the OL is there to protect you and have your back, and a leader should have theirs too, not bail on a perfectly blocked play and put their efforts to waste.

They aren't going to risk losing any of these games just so Brennan gets some playing time. The objective is to win first and foremost. These games aren't gimmies.

That’s fine. But no excuses next year when Brennan doesn’t have much experience

As bad as Etling plays at times, he is still the best option to win. Winning should be the goal, not getting players ready for next season.

Brennan should get plenty of 2nd half snaps the next two weeks if LSU comes to play.

That's all fine and dandy but if you are repeatedly hit and hit hard almost immediately throughout the season, you'd be a little hesitant to trust your OL too.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree that the QB should trust the OL but our OL has done A LOT to destroy the trust between them and Danny.

Hindsight is 20/20, if Danny had stayed in the pocket and gotten destroyed then you'd be on here bitching about how he needs to recognize the breakdown and scramble.

This is a terrible argument. We're winning out if we start Caleb Lewis at QB.

Wanna see a bunch of juniors and seniors quit on this coaching staff?

Then go ahead and play a freshman that hasn't outright earned the job, and justify it to them as getting ready for next year.

Agree. I do want MB to get meaningful snaps though. Maybe if we go up early by 10 or something then get him a series or two. If he makes a mistake it wouldn't hurt as bad and Myles is getting reps against a D that is still fighting for a win

I would not actually. I'd definitely hold the OL accountable for not doing their job, and admittedly they hadn't done it well up to that point. But like it or not, those are the guys you have. Especially when you have some freshman in there, you gotta show them that you believe they'll get better over time.

It's the ultimate team game and when your field general is basically sending you messages that he doesn't trust you to have his back that's not a good look. Leaders are supposed to make their guys better especially when you have young guns up there. Not give up on them. Besides that, you're not going to have perfect circumstances when you're performing every time so if that's something that you require then that's a problem.

Quite the opposite actually. I'd rather send a message saying if you can't trust the people around you to do their job then we'll find someone that can.

Then you'd be the first one on here bitching about firing everybody whenever LSU lost a few of these final games.

If you want to see Brennan play the rest of the way to help him be better prepared for next year, just say it that way. That at least is a legit opinion, whether you agree with it or not. This absurd he doesn't trust his offensive line to protect him when they blitz crap is stupid. He bailed on a couple plays against Alabama because apparently we haven't taught our wide receivers how to adjust when the blitz is coming and run a hot route to get the ball out quickly. I saw three occasions where Bama showed blitz, came, and our receivers didn't read it (or don't have the option to read it) and didn't adjust their route. All Etling was doing was trying to get as much (or lose as little) as he could before the pressure got there.
