People are fleeing the two states for two totally different reasons. One is a tax issue, the other a quality of life issue.

It is easy to vote for higher taxes when you don't actually have to pay for the taxes.

Neat, isn't it?

Just like it is easy to vote for "free" health insurance...

do not need to come crying and blame Republicans when it all comes crashing down with high taxes. I can't think of a single place that has thrived under Democrat management and remember, you did it to yourselves.

Being an SJW is expensive, in more ways than one.

First: There is nothing in the Trump Tax Cut for you.

Second: The Trump Tax doesn't pay for itself--it's deficit and debt spending to the tune of 3 trillion dollars. But it does try to redistribute benefits of tax policy out of areas like NYC in favor of red states.... so for instance, any state that accepted Medicaid expansion gets hit with higher taxes... example: Virginia, NY, Maine (now), etc.

Third: The US economy rebounded under Obama, especially from 2012 onward. We are currently continuing in the uptick that started under a Democrat.

Four: We are not the highest taxed nation. You've been fed a lie. The effective corporate rate falls well below because of all the ways corporations can get out of paying taxes. No corps are paying the taxes at the standard rate.

Five: Trump tax cut is for wealthiest of the wealthiest. We are not talking rich, we are talking mega-rich. What's worse: mortgage deductions, student loan deductions, and a whole host of other tax relief is being cut out of code which only hurts middle and lower classes.

So nothing you've said is accurate. In fact, it's opposite of what you said.

Well, the premise of the thread is that democratically run states are worse off than republican run states (and that being democratically run is the de facto reason for that quality). You added that people are fleeing one of those states (presumably to republican run ones). I just pointed out a counter argument to one implied argument in your statement.

Louisiana has a Democratic Governor.

In your alternate reality, the majority of democrats don't pay taxes?

Country is so divided mostly because clearly each side is pretty ignorant about the other.

The first since 2008. But I will grant you that Louisiana is a bit of an odd ball in this argument (and in everything really).

Have you lost your mind? I never said a word about any Trump tax cut. But since you recited your talking points...

Number one is just silly. You know nothing about me so how can you know what I would and would not get?

The second point? I refuse to accept the premise. "Pay for itself"? It is MY money to start with, NOT the governments. Let them learn how to make do with less.

Third is just an out and out lie. When Barry was sitting in the White House for a full 8 years we never had numbers like this. N-E-V-E-R. He blamed Bush the entire time so I will claim Bush's policies have finally borne fruit. See how silly that, and you, sound?

Four..jack up those corporate taxes and watch jobs and capital leave the US. You know better. Obama himself ADMITTED that lowering the Capital Gains Tax would increase the amount of money coming into the Treasury but he would not support such a thing out of "fairness". That is a fact and it was a stupid thing to say.

Your last point is pure propaganda. It would not matter what was in any tax cut proposal, you and your socialist lemmings would oppose it, and denounce it exactly as you did without having a clue what was in it. The Democrats did that very thing with this bill. But you know all that too and are a lost cause.

In conclusion, you don't have to take a tax cut. Figure out how much you saved and mail a check for that into the IRS. Or go ahead and figure out how much you would pay at 90 percent and mail that on in. Practice what you espouse. But you won't do that, you just want the rest of us to.

The top 10 States percentage of deficit compared to the budget are pretty equal when comparing blue states to red states.

5 blue states in the top 10:
Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, and Minnesota

4 red states in the top 10:
Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina

1 purple state in the top 10:
Nevada

Have you lost your mind? I never said a word about any Trump tax cut. But since you recited your talking points...

You are arguing the worn out trope that Democrats tax and spend, and republicans cut taxes... when actually republicans only cut taxes on the super wealthy.. Multi-millionaires, and they do it by piling on the deficit and debt. Obama passed the biggest tax cut for the middle class in the history of tax cuts. The Trump plan removes write-offs that the middle class relies on. You don't say anything about the Trump tax plan because you cannot defend it.

Number one is just silly. You know nothing about me so how can you know what I would and would not get?

You're not super wealthy. Don't try.

What do you think your taxes do? The Republicans are deficit and debt spending. It's spending when you cut taxes. Effectively shifting the burden to the future. It would be different if they raised taxes for the wealthy and cut them for middle class in a way that created a savings, OR was at least deficit neutral. But they aren't. They are spending 3 Trillion more on our country's credit card... That is not "letting them how to make do with less". But you obviously don't do economics.

You need to go do a google search and find a graph of GDP, consumer spending, and stock market progress since 2011. You are severely uneducated.

Obama himself ADMITTED that lowering the Capital Gains Tax would increase the amount of money coming into the Treasury but he would not support such a thing out of "fairness". What did Obama do to the capital gains tax, exactly? Nadda. The fact remains: his argument is true. Corporate profits are at an all-time high at the CURRENT TAX RATE. Yet wages were stagnant. Yet all those benefiting from the current level of capital gains have not passed on anything to increase wages.... Wage growth is stagnant. Only a hair better these last 2 months.

I've followed the reports on what's in the bill. They've made it public. The bill cuts taxes for the super wealthy. It removes the "death tax", which only affects estates making millions a year. It removes the student loan deduction. It removes the mortgage deduction. It creates 4 tax brackets. It lowers standard tax for corporations down to 20%. Most Americans are not corporations. And further, all corporations pay far less than the standard rate...it's called the effective rate (post deductions). Paul Ryan has said: at most, middle class families will save $1,000 a year in the plan.... HAHA! Yet that savings is in peril if they add cuts to Medicaid and Obamacare. You don't follow anything... apparently.

Look at the classic blue states:

New York
California
New Jersey
Mass
Vermont
Oregon
Washington
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Connecticut

I can't even think of any more because they are evaporating off the map. Trust me, these are places you would NOT want to live! Taxes out the wazoo. Gun laws out the wa zoo.

Horrible education. Riddled with crime. And taxes out the wazoo! These are the states with very few people who are making it on their own and everyone living off the tit of the state.

If you want to bring up a family and are looking for a place to live, just look at the Electoral Map from the last election.

I just want everyone here to see this..

The Bush Tax Cuts and De-Regulation policies gave us a huge recession.
When he attempted to fix what he created, he passed the largest "bail out" in history--which Republicans still get hot over.

Obama enacted the bail out that Bush passed.
