I know now why USA soccer sucks IRT the rest of the world

I sort of always had my suspicions but, after another season of enduring watching my kids play soccer this fall, the reason has become crystal clear. You can actually see it yourself VERY quickly.
You see, in the US, soccer is not a primary sport socially. And, this manifests itself in how we approach the game with kids.
Go watch tackle Pee Wee football sometime. The little farts. Ages 7-8 or so. Here's what you'll see.
You'll see kids that have been taught to line up in the correct spots. Taught to run to a certain place at the snap of the ball. Taught discipline and that if they don't do their job, goof off or pay attention, they WILL be yelled at.
Sure, they're still small so they'll make mistakes. But mistakes due to lack of trying or poor discipline are treated as such.
Now. Watch the same age in soccer. It's a goddamned Soccer mom's wet dream. There are virtually ZERO expectations of the little farts and, when half of them put in little or no effort, there's sort of an "oh well" attitude about it.
Sure. As kids age up, you get more competitive club soccer and even more competitive regular soccer.
But, that shite's not really revving up till like age 12 at best. Basically, about 5 years of discipline and habit forming thrown in the shitter(actually, now you have to overcome bad habits).
I submit that if I went to a nation where soccer was a primary sport.......I would see 6-7 year olds in soccer(Futbol) approached exactly like Pee Wee footballers in the U.S.
This helps explain why nations out there with 1/10th the number of kids playing soccer end up with adults that kick our asses.

If you are waiting on a youth soccer coach to teach your kid soccer, it’s too late. The die is already cast. They need to have ball skills at 3 years old.
The little Argentine and Mexican kids are getting better coaching, but they’re also playing keep away with their dad and older siblings before they ever show up to an organized practice anywhere.

Well we have a lot of data on how to become a soccer nation, but the key is early acces to professional coaching. That is more important than the social setting of games. Far more important.

LOL no.
Most kids that have any semblance of talent AND their parents take it seriously, are playing club/travel/academy ball by 9, sometimes as young as 7 or 8.
It sounds like your son plays in a rec league (I don't say that as an offense). The youth structures of football and soccer could not be more different.
Edit: It's also untrue to say that the USA sucks compared to "the rest of the world".

This. My 8 year olds are traveling from LA to TX tomorrow to play FC Dallas academy teams. I guarantee you there will be some yelling for mistakes and cheering for good passes, tackles, and hopefully goals.

I've seen travel/club teams. Not much better than rec league kids. Parents just over pay to have their kids on a club/travel team. More of a status symbol for the parents than anything.
