Epstein is being very hardheaded on moving Schwarber. I'd rather keep him too. 30 homers in a down year is nothing to scoff at.

Almora probably has the lowest ceiling among cubs youngsters, albeit still high, in the management's eyes.

I would move him over Russell Baez or Happ. It will be tough for the Cubs to get an impact rotation arm via trade if all four of those are off limits

I agree. He's the most one-sided of all.

Now, Theo thinking so is a different story but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Russell and Baez are probably close to untouchable.

I agree especially if they don't land Cobb. KC is going to want to replace the non-existent power issue they have with both Hosmer/Moustakas being free agents. If they can't get either Schwarber or Happ, I just don't see it making sense.

I have nothing to base this on but I've always felt Happ would be the first to go.

It feels like they don't want to trade any of them but they know one of the outfielders will have to go for a pitcher.

It's almost like they're going to put Almora, Happ, and Schwarber's names in a hat a pick randomly

I like Happ but I guess if you have Russell and Baez set up the middle he loses value to Chicago playing in a corner OF. He’s probably more valuable to someone else than the Cubs

Is it pretty much a given they’re getting two starters? I assume they have Lester Quintana and Hendricks penciled in for next year with question marks beyond that. It does seem like Cobb to Chicago is a foregone conclusion

Happ will be better offensively than Baez in the long run but that’s JMO

It's probably just one more starter. It just depends on who it is. Cobb, Duffy, or possibly a reunion with Arrieta depending on the price tag.

Chatwood was signed for the rotation.

Baez had a surprisingly good offensive year, BA wise. He hit .273. He needs to get a better OBP, but he is improving.

I don't think it's Schwarbs but clearly somebody has to go for them to get what they want. I'd fine giving up Happ and a package to get Duffy and Herrera.

That's my thought too. Plus he's cheap which makes him attractive to a team like the Royals

This is ideal. I'd rather Almora because he's power capped as of now but you need some BA, OBP, and defense.

Happ is definitely more appealing to the Royals.

Nothing on the big club that would equal a Russell or Baez

Now their farm system is loaded

Or you could trade Russell, Baez to SS & Happ to 2B

Cubs are flexible. They like Baez at SS too

Florial is probably 2 years away for the Yankees. Maybe they figure Frazier is expendable because of him, considering Frazier wouldn't play much with the big league club this season anyway.

Has Frazier's value dropped or something? I remember him getting the "Next Trout" label, etc., and now I'm seeing his name mentioned in trade talks everywhere

I would trade Russell before Baez but I was responding to the other guy saying he thought Russell and Baez were untouchable

His value has probably dropped a bit for the Yankees, just because of the stacked roster they have, especially in the outfield. This had a lot to do with Hicks' breakout season. Now it's compounded with the addition of Stanton.

But in baseball as a whole, his value certainly hasn't dropped. Teams could try to leverage the Yankees, because they know New York is in a position where they are stockpiled at one position. But Cashman is the best GM in baseball, and I don't think he'll allow that to happen.

Chatter at winter meetings is that Yankees are pursuing Longoria.
