Won't be on the team next year so too bad.
I seriously doubt we cut Ingram next year. He looks like he's still in his prime.
His cap hit next year is 6.245 mil, & he only has a 1.645 mil dead money hit if cut. Still, I think we let him play out his contract. We would have to add a RB (high draft pick or a nice size F.A. contract) to replace him if we decided to go this route, & there's no guarantee that the move would work out.
If he still looks good after the 2018 season...I wouldn't mind a team friendly deal for like 2 years. Ingram & Kamara are a damn good 1-2 punch. You have no idea what kind of play will be called based on personnel with both of these guys. They can both do everything, which keeps the defense honest & doesn't allow them to sell out against the run or pass.

I would be pissed if we cut Ingram. Only reason I would be okay with losing him is if he comes in asking to be paid top 3 RB money.

I hater, HATED, when we drafted Deuce. We had Ricky Williams who we traded an entire draft for, he was from Ole Miss and had so many other needs. As the years went by, Deuce was the heart of the team and played so hard, you couldn’t help but love the guy. Now he does commentary and has a decent restaurant in the FQ.
Ingram is from bama and we traded up to get him. So people weren’t going to like him. Then he didn’t do very well his first few years, so people were very against him. He’s playing better and doing really well. As long as he’s a Saint, I’ll cheer for the guy.

I've been saying for the past few weeks that Kamara is going to be our Leveon Bell by next year.
His pass blocking needs a little work but his ability to catch the ball and run between the tackles at his size is gonna make him a lot of money.
Wouldnt be suprised if we let Ingram go (either trade or cutting him) and signing a cheap back-up.

Deuce and Joe Horn are the most overrated Saints ever

I thought Adrian Peterson had a shot at the Saints career rushing record. He was so close...

Those averages put him dead middle of the pack. He's an average back and always has been. Check my post history on him...I like the guy and root for him. But the painful truth is that for the price paid for him, I believe he's under-performed.

Moscow’s laid it out the other day.
He is, in every sense of the word, and average back. His numbers show it.
Kamara makes him expendable IMO
But that’s down the road...for now

A career average of 4.5 ypc is not an average NFL RB. That isn't even average starting NFL runningback, which I'll let you know are very different things. He has 3, soon to be 4, straight 1000 yard all purposes seasons, averaging 8.3TDs per year.
If you want to look at over all numbers and completely dismiss the fact that he has never come close to even 250 carries in a season, due to the fact that our passing offense has been one of, if not the most, prolific passing offenses in the history of the NFL over his career, then you can argue that his overall numbers aren't above a starting NFL RBs, then go ahead. But over the past 2-3 years he is a top 15 RB in the league statistically, and that is a verifiable fact.
If you get a guy who's playing this well in every aspect of what RBs do for your team on a reasonable contract 7 years after you draft a guy, that's better than most ROI on first round picks. Did the Saints draft a hall of fame RB? Of course not, so you didn't get the best return imaginable. Did we get Beanie Wells, Trent Richardson, Ryan Matthews, Knowshon Moreno, Donald Brown, Jahvid Best, Doug Martin? He's better than all those recent first round RBs. He's also not what Leonard, Melvin Gordon, or Todd Gurley will likely be. He's no super star.
But he is at the very worst an above average STARTING running back in the NFL, which let me reiterate, DOES NOT MAKE HIM JUST AN ABOVE AVERAGE RUNNING BACK. It means he's in the top half of the top quarter of NFL running backs over the past 3.5 years. His Rushing yardage totals and YPC say that, black and white, clear as day.
If you want to put on you LSU officially licensed earmuffs and blindfold and deny that indisputable fact, that's fine, but it doesn't change the facts.

Ingram has just been healthy compared to Dueces career. Mark would be riding the pine or traded if you put them on the same team in their prime

Hot take: Ingram is a good football player and vitally important to this team's hopes down the stretch.
And while I'm an LSU fan born and raised, I don't give a shite about where any NFL player went to college, especially if they're on the Saints

Even if you think this, I personally don't, he is paid less than 17 other NFL backs including his former back up Chris Ivory

You did see where I refuted that by showing that Ingram missed more games in their first six seasons, right? Or are you functionally retarded?
