JPD spokesman Sgt. Roderick Holmes said the incident occurred in the 1000 block of Poplar Blvd. shortly after 12:30 a.m. Officers found a male victim lying on the ground suffering from a single gunshot wound. Officers also found a female victim who said she had been robbed. The woman told police that she was in her vehicle waiting for her friend when three black males in dark clothing, armed with handguns approached her and demanded money. At that moment, her friend was walking towards her vehicle and one of the suspects fired, striking him in the left leg.

The person who renamed Jackson was a proud black kang, so you're racist for correcting him.

This is why you don't live in Jackson period, all those fricking hipsters think it's cool until you are staring down the barrel of a gun.

The properties in Belhaven are old and surrounded by thugs. And realtors still expect people to pay 300k+ for them.

Obviously need to remove some statues

Nobody says that anymore.

It's not just the realtors. Some of those people are quite out of touch... It's a good thing their shite doesn't stink because some of those old dumps have to be on the verge of sewage failures.

Realtors have nothing to do with the price of a home. You should redirect that anger at whoever is in charge of property taxes and home values.

Agreed. Lived in Belhaven for 8ish years. It was a nice area to live, but never thought it was "insulated from crime".
Still, beats the hell out of crime in NOLA/Baton Rouge.

Not that it changes anything about what happened on Poplar, but Galvez Street isn't anywhere near Belhaven.
