On the West Bank, if you know anyone or have someone in there, please go check their finances. One nurse booked a cruise while another opened a credit card in her name. Now my moms aunt is in serious debt and we've had no idea.

She can't just dispute the charges?

I've had it pop up a couple of times with a credit card and a debit card, charges were credited back almost immediately each time.

Are you here for pity or do you want advice?

Pity: Scruffy is so sorry to hear that.

Advice: Sue them until they lose their homes.

This sucks. I've got a strong suspicion it was a CNA or perhaps an LPN.

The assisted living stole them? Or the 6 week class Med-Tech or administrative assistant stole them?

You'll get your money back, but the police wont go after the perp. It's sad really. Money prioritzes everything.

Assisted living facilities and nursing homes are full of trashy, poorly educated trash that prey on the elderly.

Like others have said, dispute charges and lawyer up if you need to.

Contact the Louisiana Medicaid Fraud Control Unit at 1-888-799-6885. They investigate people defrauding the Medicaid Program or abusing (physical, financial, sexual, etc) elderly or disabled citizens in nursing or group homes.

How stupid are they? It would be so easy to track someone down who booked a cruise

fact is, if you don't authorize a credit card charge, you are not legally responsible for it....so if true, your great aunt should not have too much of an issue.

you need to be sure that there has actually been a crime committed though, as old people sometimes slip off into binge shopping, etc.
